TAPO C220 2K 4MP P/T Digi Zoom "Indoor" WiFi CCTV
This is now my 7th WiFi camera from Tapo and the quality seems to go from strength to strength! This camera is destined to be fitted in my carport/garage, it will be my second as i already have an older C210 model that is virtually the same only lower image resolution. Although these cameras are intended for indoor use, my original has been working fine in my unheated and slightly damp carport for over 14 months without any issues what so ever, fingers crossed this stays the same? Don't let its size fool you, the image quality is fantastic especially when you take into account its cost! The built in microphone works well and is quite sensitive, as for the speaker the playback sound quality isn't so great but what do you expect from such a small speaker in such a small unit, that said speech is clear enough to be understood. The IR night vision is just enough to illuminate a standard size garage end to end, similar to an average size living room for which it is really intended. The AI recognition at this price level is about what you'd expect, but if you intend to add more cameras or sensors to your set up the H500 Hub adds the next level of AI to this camera giving it the same features as Tapo's much higher level cameras. Set up is very easy once you understand that during setup you have to connect your phone/tablet to the cameras own WiFi and not you own home's WiFi, this caught me out and catches alot of people out i understand, the apps instructions are very good but not clear on this one point which should be expressed better. I purchased one of these for a relative who takes it on holiday with her just so she can keep an eye on her dog when they go out, poor thing feet's! It's a good camera at £25 but Argos often have them on a deal so can be picked up even cheaper, this was one of those deals. It is worth paying the extra few pounds for the C220 over the other similar, cheaper models, these are basically the same camera but the much higher image quality is what your paying the extra for. Add an SD card to your camera and record your own footage without the need of a paid 3rd party back-up service. Tapo do offer such a service that I belive is about £30 per year, personally this is why I purchased Tapo's H500 Hub so I have my own back-up without any additional cost, it's worth reading up on Tapo's website just what you can do with a Hub! The whole thing integrates perfectly with Amazon's Alex Echo Show units, this is when you can really start getting carried away with the other possibility of Tapo's kit. More than happy to recommend this camera.

Thanks for using Q&A.
Hello there,
Tapo C220 2K 4MP Pan/Tilt Wi-Fi AI Home Security Camera.
Yes, as long as it is connected to the internet and stays online. You can view and control it remotely via the Tapo App on your phone.
Thanks for using Q&A
Hi,
It is generally not recommended to use an extension cable to power the camera, as this may affect its performance. Please consider the following points:
1. The material and length of the extension cable may cause the voltage reaching the Tapo camera to be lower than the voltage it requires to operate, resulting in some unusual behavior, such as the camera automatically restarting at night or getting stuck when panning and tilting.
2. Using extension cords outdoors may also increase the risk of lightning damage, which may void your product's warranty.
3. If you must use an extension cord, please consider a cable with 22 AWG or thicker wire to minimize voltage drops and ensure your camera receives adequate power. Additionally, ensure the cable is properly waterproofed and lightning-protected.
For optimal performance, we recommend using the original power adapter and cord that came with the Tapo camera.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi,
The data consumption for watching live video or uploadingclips to the cloud server depends on the camera resolutionand the duration of use. On average, the upload bandwidth for each camera should not exceed 5 Mbps. Apart from streaming video, camera's other activities like communication with the IOT cloud take up a little data.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi,
The Tapo C220 requires an SD card or a Tapo Care subscription for recording.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi,
On Recording Schedule page to set recording schedule for "Don't Record", "Detection Recording", and "Continuous Recording".
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi,
The Tapo C220 needs to stay plugged in. It draws power from the power adapter, so it can stay on all week as long as it’s connected to an outlet. The “wireless” part only means the camera connects to your Wi‑Fi (2.4 GHz).
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi,
For camera live view, once the camera is set up in the Tapo app and connected to the internet, you can watch it for free (no extra cost).
For camera playback, there are two recording types:
1. Tapo Care Cloud Recordings: Each Tapo Camera offers a one-time 30-day free trial of Tapo Care (starts when enabled in the app), which provides 30-day cloud video history and advanced features. After the trial, a Tapo Care subscription is required for 7- or 30-day cloud-stored detection recordings. More details about Tapo Care, visit: https://www.tp-link.com/tapocare/...
2. SD Card Recordings: An SD card is needed to access continuous or motion-triggered recordings (based on your Recording Schedule). To check which SD card is compatible with your camera, visit: https://www.tapo.com/faq/111/...
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi,
You can refer to this SD card compatibility list: https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/3048/...
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi,
The Tapo C220's power source is a 9V DC power adapter. If you purchased it in the UK, then it should be a UK standard product.
Thanks for using Q&A.
