Panasonic bread maker praised for ease of use, consistent perfect loaves, automatic dispensers, and versatility. Some issues with recipe accuracy, dense wholemeal bread, noisy beeps, and hard-to-read display.

Top machine
This is a case of ‘I should have bought this a long time ago’. Fantastic bread maker making lovely bread which is so simple. The whole meal bread is just a good. Will never buy shop bread again.

Disappointed
Bought in Nov 2024. A month ago the machine stopped producing a risen loaf on both programmes 1 and 7 . All ingredients and processes used were exactly as previously used successfully. Recipes followed and ingredients in date. The worst Panasonic machine I’ve bought in 20 years .

The best.
My second Panasonic bread maker. The previous one is over a decade old and still going strong, but I’ve treated myself and given that one to my daughter. They’re simply brilliant - classic example of a well developed product that does its job wonderfully.

Perfect bread maker
Makes perfect bread every time. I had a different make of bread maker and was not pleased with it. A friend recommended this and I’m so glad I bought. It’s so easy to use and I love the separate compartments for yeast and fruit. Excellent results and bread that stays soft for a few days.

Lovely even rise loaves
We have been using this machine which replaced our previous standard model from some months now. This machine has been giving more even raise on our loaves due to the dual temp gauges I presume. We mainly bake wholewheat loaves with sometimes a bit of rye for a different flavour profile. It has been so much easier to have the machine distribute the yeast at the correct time in the process, it does take away the faff of having to carefully place in the standard machine. This machine was more expensive than the standard but I have come to appreciate that it is worth paying the extra for the improvement in our loaves being even. I have not used the, seed or whatever distributor, I just put the seeds in at the outset and this works just fine. I gave my standard machine to a family member who only bakes white or 50 50 loaves, she loves it. We don't bake white bread as a norm. So to conclude, I would think, if you don't want to make whole meal bread, I guess the extra expense of this machine is not really worth the cost.

Perfect Loaf
The bread was perfect - texture good, colour just right, crust not too hard, evenly risen.

Excellent Bread Maker
This is my second Panasonic bread maker, the last one lasted 24 years, used at least a couple of times every week, before the drive belt wore out. New drive belts are available, but the new one is a big upgrade, adding the fruit dispenser, yeast dispenser, and dual temperature sensors so that it gets the bread rise correct in cold weather. The bread produced is excellent, only real issue I've found is that it can take a while to select the higher numbered programs, would be better if it remembered your favourites and put them at the top of the selection menu, as my washing machine does, or maybe if it had a phone app so you can select things on a big touch screen - the little LCD display works, but hasn't changed much since last century, although the buttons are much better. It is also a bit noisy at times, not a problem, but I'm sure the dispenser mechanisms don't need to be loud enough to make you jump if they operate while you are not expecting them!

Give us this day our daily bread!
Setting the breadmaker the night before couldn’t be any easier. Waking up to fresh bread on a Sunday morning, to eat with the strawberry jam I’d made the day before is just so nice! I’ve also made a cake in the breadmaker using the bake only program. Definitely recommend!

Hi Shaya,
Thanks for your query about the Panasonic SD-YR2550SXC Fully Automatic Breadmaker - Silver.
Without knowing which specific different ingredients it is that you want to add, we cannot be exact.
It is possible to add other ingredients to the mix, e.g. eggs, herbs/spices, salt, fat, dairy products like milk, sugar and more. For these, you may then need to adjust the amounts of other things you add to compensate such as the amount of water/liquids, etc.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi, there.
The paddle does not retract. You would remove it once the dough is made, to cook the bread.
Thanks for using Q&A.

Overall, its not too bad, other than when the yeast is dispensed, when it makes about 8 loud bangs, which have woken me up in the night before, but fortunately my 4yr old Grandson slept through! That With the kitchen door closed, and my bedroom upstairs, hope this helps.
Hi
Panasonic SD-YR2550SXC Fully Automatic Breadmaker - Silver
The Panasonic SD-YR2550SXC Fully Automatic Breadmaker features dual temperature sensors that optimize bread quality by measuring both internal and external temperatures throughout the baking process. This technology ensures consistent results, making it a reliable choice for baking bread and other baked goods. However, specific noise levels are not detailed in the available sources, so it is recommended to listen to the machine during operation to assess its noise level.
Thank you for using Q&A
No, you cant use spelt flour in this model, its only in the SD-YR2540. I own this model, the YR2550, and it specifically says in the manual you cant use spelt.
Hi Jax.
Panasonic SD-YR2550SXC Fully Automatic Breadmaker - Silver:
From the information available, spelt flour can be used in a breadmaker. The breadmaker's gluten-free setting should work well, you may need to adjust the amount of liquid and leavening agents in your recipes.
Thank you for using Q&A.
