The long pliable neck can be bent and shaped, the head can be angled this way and that. Switching it on and off is a doddle too, on the top of the base, centre front. I should have bought myself one ages ago. Great lamp, can bend anyway you want, lovely and bright and really easy to turn on in the dark. Also I didn't have to mess about searching for bulbs.

Not as good as the old design.
The old version of this lamp allowed you to turn it on and off by touching the 'head' which meant it was easy to find by touch. The new version requires you to touch a specific point on the base, which is far less convenient. Having said that, the light from the lamp is very good for a bedside.

The lamp can not be left in the on position. Once switched off by the timer, you would need to touch the lamp again for it to come on.

No, when you plug the lamp in it does not come on. You have to touch the button.
For most people this is fine. If you have a smart home plug, this is no use as you cant automate the light.
