This is 925 Sterling Silver so should not turn your skin green, although sterling silver can still tarnish if exposed to some conditions such as moisture or cosmetics so be sure to remove the chain if coming into contact with these.

If you're any good with pliers, you could change the end jump ring. Take it off then you could get beads with a smaller hole (lots of beads tend to be 0.9 or smaller so unless you want huge beads you'll struggle). Once you've put you beads on you can close the jump ring back up

The chain is 1mm thick you would need to make sure that the beads had a core of 2-3mm to fit over the end piece.
