All that comes with it is a sheet of paper with the picture sequence of how to thread the bobbin and the top stitching. you can buy the full instructions online , or if you buy from a Singer shop they will provide the full booklet. Argo is just cutting corners.

Yes you can. The slide button is hidden behind the drawer section of the machine. Slide out the front drawer section away from the machine and on the rear- behind and below the sewing foot - you will find the slide button to lower and raise the feed dogs to allow free motion of the material. Check out page 26 of the manual on the Singer website to see how to do it as my explanation maybe confusing.
