About this product
With an extra-wide 42cm cutting width, this Spear and Jackson mower has been designed especially for larger gardens. Supplied with two powerful 40V 4.0ah batteries, and a fast one-hour charger, you can use one battery whilst the other charges. And, being cordless, you can keep your lawn neat and tidy without the risk of cutting the cable.
The comb on the side of the mower brushes grass into the blades to ensure you can cut right up to the edge of your lawn, reducing the amount of trimming required.
Easy cut height adjustment means you can quickly change the cutting height to suit your lawn. There are 6 cutting heights on this mower, with a cut height range from 2.2cm to 7.2cm.
A built-in rear roller helps you achieve a precise, professional striped finish on your lawn. The mower has a 40L grass collection bag, and a mulching feature that cuts out the need to empty the grass box, leaving a fine mulch on the lawn.
The soft grip, ergonomic power handle offers improved comfort and grip. For extra peace of mind Spear & Jackson offer a 3-year guarantee on all Garden Power products.

Great lawn mower
Bought this item a few weeks ago and am very happy with it. It cuts the grass well, in fact it doescexactly what it says on thd box. I am impressed with the battery life znd am able to cut the whole of the grass in one. Would recommend without doubt.

Same model as last time, says it all.
I bought this as an exact model replacement for my old one which served me well through five cutting seasons. It has now gone for an easier life in my daughters garden. Original was bought as it had by far the best reviews, particularly the batteries, of all the similar sized S&J models, in 2021. As it has served me impecably, I saw no reason to change type, as it is still available. I find it quite robust enough for my larger than average lawn, which it has always cut with one battery, but great to know there is always another in reserve. I usually use it in auto mode and let it adjust its speed to suit the grass density automatically, which it does well. I cannot comment on mulching as I prefer to pick up the grass, and striping works well if you have an uncomplicated lawn that makes this practical and desirable, but I tend to go round and round! This is a great mower at a great price(Argos 25% reduction, which was £10 less than 5 yrs ago) which I would thoroughly recommend for all average sized gardens.

Good for what I paid
Not too heavy for a battery power device. Assembly instructions a bit cryptic but I got there in the end. Did both my lawns on one full battery which surprised me. Quiet enough.

Great price when on offer like it was
Cuts the grass great with nice wide strips so great for a large lawn. The battery lasts easily so probably only need 1 but I have 2 as part of the package. It is a bit heavy to turn especially if the ground is a bit soft

First class.
Cracking mower. Slightly smaller than my previous one but still first class and at a great price. Very happy!

Ok, but….
Good battery performance and initial cuts are ok, but the handle settings and fixings seem flimsy so will be interesting to see how well they stand up to regular use

Good value battery lawn mower
I'm very impressed with my new mower; it cuts the lawn beautifully and reduces time spent . I had a Mountfield petrol self propelled mower before as i have a lot of lawn to mow but it took me sometime to get the job done. I now find the task so much quicker and the finish is great. It's so easy to adjust the height required and gives a perfect cut. It comes with 2 batteries which is useful if you have large lawns to mow. It's very light to push and easy to manage on lawn. I'm so glad I swapped to a battery lawn mower and good value.

Excellent
Excellent. Wider cut than cheaper models means less walking. Battery lasts longer than smaller models and charges quickly and 2 provided. Easy fit and removal of batteries. Would recommend.

Hello Robs,
The supplier has advised the following for the Spear & Jackson 42cm Cordless Rotary Lawnmower - 40V:
"The mower is suitable for large gardens and can handle a slightly uneven or bumpy lawn. However, deep holes, mole hills, exposed roots, or rocks could be a hazard as the blade may hit them.
If the grass is long, start by using the mower on a higher cutting height, and cut it down in stages for best results."
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hi there.
I can advise that you may purchase replacement batteries for the Spear & Jackson 42cm Cordless Rotary Lawnmower - 40V and the specific part number is:
40LB4023-C Spear & Jackson 40v 4.0Ah Li-Ion Battery for S4042X2CR.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hello there,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Spear & Jackson 42cm Cordless Rotary Lawnmower - 40V: This mower is a cordless mower and can only be operated via either of the 2 supplied batteries. It can not be operated by the mains. By having 2 batteries, one battery can be used in the mower whilst the other is charged in the fast charger provided, therefore there shouldn’t be any risk of running out of charge when cutting your lawn.
Thank you for using Q&A.

Hello Rob,
The supplier has advised the following for the Spear & Jackson 42cm Cordless Rotary Lawnmower - 40V:
“ This model is a push mower without power driven wheels. Cordless mowers are considerably lighter than petrol mowers and so the need for power driven wheels is reduced when using cordless lawnmowers. Power driven wheels on a cordless mower will also drain the battery quicker, reducing the cutting time, so is not required. ”
Thanks for using Q&A.
I'm sorry I don't know. The one I have I find is light enough. I do hope you find what you need
Hello Marie,
The supplier has advised the following for the Spear & Jackson 42cm Cordless Rotary Lawnmower - 40V:
"The lowest height the handle can be set at is approximately 95cm. There are 2 handle mounting positions and 3 angles. Giving 6 different heights."
Thank you for using Q&A.
