A great upgrade
I decided to upgrade to this from the HT A300 - as my hearing isnt what it used to be and hoped this would help The overall impression were positive - but there are a few aspects to keep in mind: a) Sony apps universe remains a very confusing one - please scan the QR code to download the right app - dont just go into app store and put in sony connect as it will likely download the headsets app - which is what happened to me and of course i couldnt find or connect the soundbar - it took me an hour or so of high frustration to decide to uninstall that app - scan the QR code - download the right app (bravia connect) then it was an easy setyp b) the initial setup was easy and if you own a new Sony TV it will allow you to fully control the TV/Soundbar from the app - so all great - but again - you will need to go into the app and really play around with all the settings - basically upon the default install/setup - the TV sound was better but only on AerialTV and Youtube - all the other streaming apps like Disney netflix prime appletv - sound it worse - i could barely hear anything etc i had to go into the app - in sound settings and play with EVERY single option - turning on/off to see if better - and eventually it did I cant remember what i did but defo use 360 sound option as that is the best and tick pretty much all types of sound formats - so some of these were turned out by default, hence why streaming apps were not really using the soundbar - now i can confirm they all work and sound good I used to keep my volume on 22 on the old bar and now is on 18 and still sounds loud also the voice isolation is AMAZING - i can finally hear what people were saying without drowning their voice in the other sounds all in all - is worth every penny - esp if you have a hard hearing like i do

Great pice of kit!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been very impressed with the Sony Theatre Bar 7 . The sound quality is excellent, with clear dialogue, rich bass, and a wide soundstage that makes films and TV shows much more immersive. Setup was via the Sony Bravia app but instructions were not always clear or intuitive ….still not sure what the lights on the front of the bar mean? Maybe it’s an age thing but would still prefer an instruction manual. The the design looks sleek and of the high quality finis you would expect from Sony. As well as using it with the TV it also performed really well outside to provide music for a BBQ. I’ve also used it successfully to play backing tracks in conjunction with guitar amp. Great fun!!! In summary the Theatre Bar 7 is a really good soundbar either connected to the TV or as a stand alone music source, delivering great performance for everyday use. Highly recommended for anyone looking to upgrade their home entertainment system!

Good clear sound with easy setup
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Been using this in my bedroom for just over a couple of weeks as an upgrade to my TV speakers. Quite impressed with the sound quality, my bedroom TV already has subwoofers built in, so was a bit worried it might not have as much bass as the TV. However this was not the case, and don’t believe I’ve lost any definition in bass compared to the TV, and believe it actually sounds a lot crisper than the TV. I did have to turn the bass all the way to max on the sound bar though, mainly for listening to music. Believe this would sound incredible with a matching subwoofer. Haven’t noticed any atmos/surround like effects coming from the soundbar my tv actually seems to do this quite a lot better than the soundbar. Very simple easy to setup. The app seemed to be good for calibrating the sound, took all of about 5 minutes from setup to calibration. I did have a minor issue with the app finding the soundbar after setup, once the soundbar had been switched off. This went on for about 2 days. The app would say that it couldn’t find the soundbar, and I’d then have to setup again through the app. After the 2nd day of this issue, it just seemed to sort itself out, and have not had the issue since. All in all would recommend this sound bar if you’re looking for decent sound quality, and a nice and easy setup.

The Bravia Theatre 7 sound bar
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Out of the box you find the Sony Bravia Theater 7 which is a nine speaker 5.0.2 channel all in one sound bar. You will find all the leads required plus remote control and wall mounting brackets with template so no mistakes on fitting to the wall if you want to. Once out the next step is to connect the mains cable then the HDMI cable to tv and sound bar. Once switched on the sound bar takes over the set up which was straight forward. You also have a QR code to download the Bravia connect app then you can use to set volume and bass levels, the viewing position can be measured also, there is a lot more in settings as well ,you have night mode, sound field and voice mode. I have used this for a few days now set up in my bedroom it’s a lot better than the speakers on the television. The sound bar supports Dolby Atmos,DTS:X IMAX enhanced. With Bluetooth you can connect phone etc, The remote control has fewer buttons giving it a friendly feel, Sony’s 360 spatial sound mapping technology which creates phantom speakers to enhance the surround experience.Overall the sound bar is a good choice for people who are looking to upgrade their home cinema experience with this compact unit.

A Standalone Soundbar That Seriously Surprised Me
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] From the moment I unboxed the Theatre Bar 7, I knew straight away that Sony had put some serious thought into this thing. The design is sleek, modern and fits perfectly into my setup. It’s one of those products that looks understated until you turn it on and then it becomes an essential piece of tech. Setup was an absolute breeze using the Bravia Connect app (and I enjoyed the demo a lot). I’ve had soundbars in the past that made me feel like I needed a degree in engineering just to get them going, but the Bar 7 was plug in, pair, done. No faffing, no confusion, no “why isn’t this working” moment. It just got on with the job. And once it started doing that job it absolutely delivered. The clarity on this thing is unreal. Dialogue cuts through everything like it’s been sharpened. Even at lower volumes, voices stay crisp and clean without getting swallowed by background noise. It’s the kind of clarity that makes you realise how muddy other systems can sound. The height performance genuinely surprised me. I wasn’t expecting much from a standalone bar, but the way it projects sound upwards gives you that sense of space you normally only get from a bigger setup. It’s subtle when it needs to be and bold when the scene calls for it. You feel the lift, the openness, the atmosphere. And all of this is coming from one unit. It has definitely raised my eyebrows more than I thought it would. Surround emulation is another area where the Bar 7 punches above its weight. Effects wrap around you far more convincingly than I expected. You get that cinematic bubble from the 360 Spatial Audio and the Phantom Speakers, that sense of movement, that “something just happened behind me” moment, and it’s impressive considering there’s nothing there. Bass is solid and warm. It doesn’t try to shake down the house, but it gives enough punch to make action scenes feel alive and music feel full. It’s controlled, tight and never boomy. For everyday listening, it’s spot on. Connectivity is exactly what you want. Quick, stable and simple. No “HDMI handshake” dropouts which I have had in the past, no weird delays, no lip sync issues. It just works, and it works well. What really surprised me is how much I used it for other than films. Music sounds fantastic whilst I’m working from home, with clean highs and mids, and enough low end to keep things interesting. Gaming also feels more immersive thanks to the wide soundstage and precise imaging. It’s become one of those products you end up using constantly without even thinking about it. Is it perfect? Nothing ever is. If I had to nitpick, I’d say the bass could be deeper for those who want that defibrillator chest thump effect (which I do love). But for a standalone bar, it delivers exactly what it promises and then some. The Theatre Bar 7 has genuinely elevated my setup. It’s stylish, powerful, easy to use and packed with clever audio tricks that make films, music and games feel bigger and more alive. It’s one of those products that quietly becomes part of your daily life. I am now considering adding to the Sony ecosystem and expanding the setup to see how far the Bar 7 can take me down the immersion highway. Well done Sony.

Sony Bravia Sound Bar 7 Review.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been really impressed with the Sony BRAVIA Theatre Bar 7. Setup was quick and straightforward using the BRAVIA Connect app on my Android smartphone. When I first connected the soundbar, the app detected that a firmware update was available. The update completed before the initial setup, ensuring the soundbar was running the latest software from the start. The sound quality is a huge improvement over the built-in speakers on my TV. The standout feature is the clarity. Dialogue is crisp and easy to understand, even during action scenes. I particularly like being able to use the BRAVIA Connect app on my Android smartphone to switch between Day and Night modes, adjust the Sound Field, and enhance voices. This is especially useful when watching news broadcasts or documentaries, where speech becomes much clearer and easier to follow. Dolby Atmos creates a convincing sense of height and space, making movies and TV programmes much more immersive, while the Height of Sound Field adjustment lets you fine-tune the experience to suit your room. Sony’s 360 Spatial Sound Mapping also does an excellent job of widening the soundstage, making it feel as though the sound extends well beyond the soundbar itself. These features can also be accessed using the supplied remote control, which conveniently allows you to control both the soundbar and a compatible Sony TV. I also found that connecting the soundbar to my TV using the supplied HDMI cable connected to the TV's eARC port provided the most reliable experience. Although Bluetooth is useful for streaming music from portable devices, using the HDMI connection maintained a constant, stable link with the TV and ensured the best possible audio performance. Music playback is equally enjoyable, with detailed vocals and a balanced sound that suits a wide range of genres. The build quality feels premium, and the sleek design sits neatly beneath the TV or can be wall-mounted using the supplied mounting template if preferred. The only slight downside for me is the bass. While it’s perfectly respectable for a standalone soundbar, I found it lacked the really deep low-frequency response when playing music from my Sony NW-A40 Walkman, connected via Bluetooth or while watching action films on my Sony BRAVIA KD-43X75WL. The system is designed to be expandable, with the option of adding a wireless BRAVIA Theatre Sub 7, Sub 8 or Sub 9 subwoofer, as well as compatible wireless rear speakers, for an even more immersive home cinema experience. Everything can be managed through the BRAVIA Connect app. Overall, the BRAVIA Theatre Bar 7 is an excellent choice for anyone who wants premium sound, crystal-clear dialogue, and immersive surround effects without filling the room with multiple speakers. It’s especially impressive when paired with my Sony BRAVIA KD-43X75WL TV via HDMI eARC, creating a simple yet highly effective home cinema setup. Pros: • Excellent dialogue clarity • Immersive Dolby Atmos and DTS performance • Premium build quality • Easy setup and intuitive controls using the BRAVIA Connect app • Settings features on the app ensure optimum output at all times • Expandable with wireless subwoofer and rear speakers Cons: • Bass is good but lacks the deepest low frequencies without an optional subwoofer • Premium price compared with some competitors • Additional cost for subwoofers etc. Overall Rating: 4.5/5

Great sound - bad setup experience
I bought this with a Theater Sub 7, both reply on the Bravia Connect app to set them up and register them which should have been a quick and straightforward process. Sadly it took me many attempts and many hours to get the app on my iPhone 16 max pro to recognise them. On every occasion and at each step like can you hear a sound indicating Bluetooth connection, checking cables, checking WiFi match and link everything looked great. The final step was to agree or disagree with terms which I tried to do but that is where installation completely stalled and the app failed to open. There is nothing in the app help that covers this scenario exactly. Eventually after playing around with a multitude of iPhone settings I had success but I don't know what specific setting I changed that made it work. Anyhow, despite the above painful experience, the compensation of now having great sound on my Bravia TV XR42A90KU goes a a long way to make up for it. Without the bad set up experience it would have been 5 stars from me because the soundbar and sub are excellent.
