Not the most precise or fast
Nice colour. Can be a bit unprecise and quite slow. When adding weight, the display will sometimes change quite late, so you're never fully sure what the real weight is. Fine for everyday measuring, but not great for precise recipes. Found the photos a little misleading as I was trying to find a scale with buttons flush to the surface, but unfortunately they are raised and with a gap, meaning flour etc will get stuck down there over time.

Excellent bit of kit
20 year old Salter died so thought this looked a good buy - and it is. Goodness knows how it works as no moving parts. By that I mean items can be placed anywhere on the top and it weighs with good accuracy. Tried to fool it using the *tare" but couldn't. Really clear display. No bowl but you can use any, whether it's small or overhangs it reads accurately. My wife is very pleased. Price was OK to for a 15 year guarantee - remember to register.

Good Value Scale.
A good value set of kitchen scales. I have used them for all the different measurements of weight and found them reliable and easy to use.

Very practical - does the job!
Good practical set of scales - big enough that whatever you are weighing doesn't obscure the display which is bright and easy to see even in poor light. Satisfying click when you press the buttons so you know when you've pressed them so no changing anything by mistake! Very pleased.

Excellent
Really good set of scales, surprised that Salter are still gong, used them when I was a lab technician. Compact so fit easily in a drawer but big enough for a large glass mixing bowl and measures up to 5kg. Simple to use, easy to read, imperial and metric. Very pleased.

Hi Jon,
Yes, the scale includes a manual on/off power button – simply press the “Power” symbol located on the right hand side of the display to turn the product on. Once you have finished weighing, press and hold the same button to manually turn off. Alternatively, the scale also features an “automatic off” function which will switch the scale off after 1 minute of showing a zero balance or 3 minutes based on a steady weight.

I have exactly the same problem. I contacted Salter and they said to remove the batteries and press the on off button which there is none! Have you managed to sort the low battery issue?
Hi Khill,
The instruction manual for the scales advises the following:
WARNING INDICATORS:
Lo or Low power: Replace batteries
Err or O-Ld or EEEE Weight overload: Remove some weight.
If forcing the scales off by holding down the on/off button, waiting for a few seconds and then turning the scales on again does not resolve the issue, we recommend contacting our customer service team from the help page online for more assistance.
Thank you for using Q&A.
