R1S grabs attention with its flawless look and sound. With tactile curves, exclusive Satin Charcoal finish and Composite wood hand-crafted grille, R1S exudes fresh contemporary design. The grille material is created from woods, which are carefully spliced, coloured to closely mimic the rich tones of slow-growing hardwoods. The cabinet and grille blend perfectly with the trademark Roto Dial controller and new colour display to create a feel that encapsulates the technical capabilities of R1S.

Everything about this device suits me — the sound quality is very good, the build quality is excellent. The only thing I would change is the layout of the buttons on the unit; I would add quick‑access channel buttons 1–6 (like on the remot control).

Great radio
I bought this having been let down by Bose when they disconnected the cloud losing me the radio. I wanted to find a uk company and the history of Ruark resulted in me buying this radio. Great acoustics and excellent control. And looks great too.

Good Quality Product
This was bought for me as a gift. I particularly wanted a good quality bedside clock radio with a clear detail display and clear well balanced sound. The sound quality is quite impressive for such a small device. controls are easy to understand and intuitive to use. The small things that have been a surprise is that the stored settings maintain even the unit is unplugged and moved elsewhere. Bluetooth connection to a phone was unexpected but nice to have. DAB radio is very good. It is virtually everything you need for a clock radio. I would have liked the display to be wider to permit more information to be held on the screen at once and a manual setting for the brightness would have been nice. The downside is that this product is probably over-priced but I am willing to pay some extra for British brand - even if the product itself is manufactured somewhere in Asia!

Peerless Radio
This is the second R1 radio that I have purchased - the first some years ago which is still being used and gives great sound. The R1S Smart Radio has evolved to provide more features and ease of use and has not disappointed a radio lover as myself and yet can do so much more. It really is peerless - providing immense satisfaction in how it looks and has been designed and in just switching it on and anticipating the sound.

Great sound, nice face, easy
Very nice product with a good sound for its size, better than other products I tested. Suggestions: 1-add Qobuz interface, 2- when selecting from the preset list, the next and previous button should swap within the presets (yet not active).

Excellent internet radio
I bought this a few weeks ago to replace an aging internet radio, and I am very pleased with the much more stable connection thanks to modern dual-band wifi. The R1S also has bluetooth which adds versatility, although it does not support DLNA. I also bought the optional remote control, which is nice for when I want to listen from across the room without being distracted by my phone. I'm not much of an audiophile, but the sound quality is excellent, with talk radio and song lyrics very clear and easy to hear, and a surprising amount of bass for a modestly sized product. I am very pleased with my R1S.

Quality Product
This is a quality item, after looking at options and reviews I decided to purchase the Ruark R1S smart radio. The sound is very good, and looks great on the kitchen side , the wood front against black blends well. The time display on the front is nice, I haven't used the alarm feature, have set some stations and very pleased with my purchase..
