Can I use this in a lamp with a shade

Hi Nu,

Thanks for your query about the Philips 25W LED E27 Light Bulb.

This cannot be used in "closed luminaires", i.e. a lamp and/or shade which fully encloses the bulb. Though they tend to give out less heat than the old incandescent bulbs, LED bulbs are more sensitive to heat.

On this basis and in the absence of more information on the shape and size of the shade you intend to use this with, we cannot give an exact answer. It might potentially be OK (e.g. if the shade is made of suitable materials, quite wide and big in relation to the bulb, and very open above and below to allow good air flow). However, we'd have to say no in the absence of confirming details.

Also, its designed appearance is very much one where all or most of the bulb is intended to be visible.
