Please explain how this seat has a 5 point harness. The cybex site doesnt state it does q

Hello Dee,

The supplier has advised the following for the CYBEX Cloud G R129 Infant Carrier Car Seat - Magic Black:

"The Cloud G i-Size features a 3 point harness system, not a 5 point harness.

From a safety point of view, there is not much difference in systems with 3-point and 5-point harnesses. In the case of CYBEX infant car seats (Cloud range and Aton range), the seat itself largely absorbs the energy released in a collision. This is because the seat is secured in the car in a rear-facing positions. In a head-on collision, the child is pressed into the seat and the infant is pulled upwards by the forces, with the two should straps blocking this upward movement. In this case there is no difference between the functioning of the shoulder straps of a 3-point or a 5-point harness system. In the case of rear impact, the two systems behave slightly differently, however, the forces released on rear impact are far lower than in a head-on crash. The rear-impact test is an integral part of the homologation process and the 3-point system passes these tests just as easily as the 5-point harness system.

The situation is different again with forward-facing car seats for example our CYBEX Sirona car seats. In this instance, all the energy released in a head-on collision is channeled into the safety harness.

We at CYBEX give child safety top priority and all CYBEX car seats comply at the very least with all legal requirements and standards. As far as the harness system for infant car seats is concerned, we do not see that the one system offers any safety benefits over the other. In our view, the 3-point system has the great advantage that it is easier to use. In the case of the 5-point system, the child's arms and legs have to be passed through the harness, both when entering and leaving the seat."
