Disappointing and even though cheap, not worth it.
I bought this item as a treat for my daughter and her friends who were having a sleep over in a loft space with the idea of them watching movies using the various apps and subscriptions we have with the providers (i.e. Prime, Netflix etc). I was under no illusion that at this price we were going to have cinema quality picture and sound, however I had an old soundbar and got a screen to project onto. Got the item home, got it onto the wifi, quite understandably it needed a firmware update...however, no matter what I did, this failed. Tried to go and retrieve it from the website to put on a usb, there wasn't one. Oh well, lets try the apps, downloaded them, signed in with log ins and passwords, got to the movies or programs, and even though we could see the trailers, every time we tried to play something, there was an error, contact your provider. Went into my router protocols to see if there were firewalls causing the issue..nothing. Tried using a direct feed via hdmi and a laptop, managed to get programs, but unless it was total darkness (i.e. can't see your hands infant of you) it was at best rubbish. All in all, totally disappointing, spent so much time trying to make this work which I'll never get back. Unit was returned the following day, the person behind the till said they had had several bought back because of the same reason!! Sorry Philips, its a big fail.

Utter rubbish and a waste of time.
Now I was under no illusion that I was going to get a cinema quality projector, but I bought this for a party of teenagers having a sleepover as I thought I would be able to log into the apps to watch a movie…wrong, it wouldn’t do the firmware update, then once I logged into the various apps it kept freezing. Then would not play anything via hdmi. What I did see via the start up screens as that the resolution was like an 80’s video recording, the brightness was rubbish useless you were in a vacuum sealed cupboard. I tried to see if I could get the firmware update off the Philips website and there wasn’t one. You’d be better buying a cheap tv from Temu than waste your time with this. The interface is useless, seen better on a bt payphone. Oh and yes it’s portable, as long as you’ve got a generator to power it.

not what you expect from a philips branded item
brightness is as expected its ok for a dark room, bedroom with cheap blackout curtains, it was ok. but device wound randomly cut brightness in half. auto focus was faulty it would focus perfect then before it finished it would drop back out of focus. auto keystom randomly worked and when it did it did not straignten enougth. fan is not quiet but speakers drown it out ok, built in speakers are ok, think 32inch cheap tv. android system has be don realy poorly, using android asop mobile version not the tv varian. most apps dont work even after the firmware update. if you have any temptaion to getthis still, plan on adding external content, a streamer, tv stick or dvd etc. dont recommend it. argos refund ok so cant fault them, its philips, its not fit sell in its current state, even if the faults where just my unit, you still have a broken android OS.

The product has some problems
It looks fantastic at the beginning. But the first thing it makes me do was uninstall Netflix to download it again with the update. Then when I do it again it shows "there was a problem parsing the package". The same happened with Disney, paramount and 10+. Then I tried to mirroring and I couldn't do It. A little disappointed with this purchase. I have to go back to the seller asking for a solution or my money back.

Hello Irene,
The supplier has advised the following for the Philips NeoPix 130 NPX/130C/INT 720p Home Projector:
"Regarding your customer’s question: the Philips NeoPix 130 is primarily designed for use in dimly lit or dark environments. While it can display images in daylight, the picture quality may be significantly reduced, with colors appearing less vibrant and the image being harder to see. For the best viewing experience, we recommend using the projector in a darker room or reducing ambient light as much as possible."
Thank you for using Q&A.
