Think Twice Before Purchasing from Argos
We bought this 3 weeks ago. Within 1 hour including travelling 4 miles to collect the box and 4 miles to return it, we realised it was the wrong one. The seal was broken on the box only, you had to open it to find the instructions. We are OAPs, not terribly IT literate and certainly cannot afford to lose £249.00 We were refused a refund or a credit. We were met with a very rude, 'well you should have done your research' We cannot comment on the ease of use, compatibility or its features

Avoid
Nothing to do with Argos but this was very disappointing and I returned it within 3 hours of purchasing. Plugged it in and followed the onscreen instructions to install. Having used Humax a few times I was very familiar with the set up. Went through the process of scanning for channels/region etc then at the end it said it was checking for a firmware update. It downloaded the latest software then upon installation of software it completely reset the box and I had to go through the whole setup again! Finally got it set up only for it to completely freeze up and not respond. Had to then factory reset it and start again. Second time round I got it set up and started to set the timer to record programmes. Pressed the menu and selected a couple of programmes to record then went to jump to the end of that week to record something and found to get to the relevant programme you have to scroll through 24 hours/7 days of programmes to get to the end of the week, unlike previous models where you can jump complete days to programme episodes. At this point it decided to freeze again and became unusable so I factory reset it, boxed it up and took it back. I explained to the Argos staff what was wrong with it they immediately issued a refund to my Argos card.

Full of Bugs
This machine had the potential to be great and just what I wanted, but it is so full of bugs as to be totally unreliable, I wish I had read all the reviews before purchasing as they show exactly the same problems I experienced. This machine should, according to the manual, also be operated by an app on your phone, but apparently Humax have not released the app yet. Humax should not have released this box for sale until the bugs were fixed and the app was ready. Returned to Argos

The software is not ready yet
This box is ok hardware side I think but really in beta ( maybe alpha ? ) software stage. Really needs the promised phone app to program it and some major speed reliability and usability upgrades. I have kept it to watch as it ( hopefully ) develops but I suspect June before anything major happens .. I have other recorders to use for now and when this crashes. It works a little better if you don’t really need freely for catchup as you can start it up with no WiFi tune it on your aerial and then without retuning turn WiFi back on. Picture is good ..
