Excellent quality, well thought out, superb result
This Swirl by CREAMi makes really good ice cream and frozen desserts. I was initially concerned that it might create grainy results that were not smooth, but that’s not a problem at all. There is sometimes a very thin coating of unprocessed desert just around the sides or the very bottom, but it’s easy to mix into the processed part and is absolutely minimal. That is preferable to having the blade run too close to the plastic, shaving bits off into the tub - which mine does NOT do. The build quality is just excellent, and the whole design is very well thought out. It’s easy to clean, and all of the parts are easy to access. It arrives in eco-friendly packaging with no plastic to be seen. You get comprehensive instructions with tons of online help, including videos. The Swirl is littered with easily removed stickers containing hints and tips and QR codes to get help. I’ve seen lots of negative reviews complaining that this is just a glorified blender and not an ice cream maker. The fact is that an ice cream maker is just a glorified mixer that happens to use a chilled bowl, either via a compressor or pre-frozen. I think that the ability to pre-prepare the mixes and freeze them is actually more convenient than the traditional makers, and the cheap ones without a compressor still need you to pre-freeze the bowl in advance, which is typically bulkier than the Creami jugs. The objective is just to remove the ice crystals, so it doesn’t matter if it’s via stirring whilst freezing, or via processing AFTER freezing as long as it works - which it does. The Creami has a lot more options and versatility, though, and as somebody who previously owned a big expensive compressor-based ice cream maker from a leading Italian brand, I can tell you this is a much easier and more flexible solution. As for noise, it IS loud, but it only lasts 2-5 minutes and is no worse than a food processor or blender. It’s true that if you don’t eat it all, you put it back in the freezer, then have to reprocess, but that’s just the same as any ice cream maker - except with a traditional machine, you can’t reprocess! Once it's been processed once, it's no different to any shop-bought ice cream in the freezer. Overall, this machine is fantastic. It works well, creates excellent results and is very flexible. Don’t be put off by people moaning that it doesn’t “make” ice cream but just mixes it. That’s all any machine does! Trust me when I say that making a traditional mix for a traditional machine is much more work than this, and it still takes a good 30 minutes to an hour to freeze in the machine.

If you love desserts, buy this
Despite having multiple ninja items and using them everyday (pizza oven, flex draw air fryer, grill/air fryer, slow cooker, hand blender and small blender) making everything from chips, roast potatoes, through to homemade bread, soups and pizza's. I lost my confidence in Ninja when their kettle only lasted a few months and had to be returned for a refund. As Ninja items are expensive, you expect a high level of performance and the kettle didn't live up to their normal standard, but it was refunded promptly. So I'll be honest and say that my love affair with Ninja was over and I wasn't looking to buy any other items from their range. Then my partner decided to order the Ninja Swirl, as a surprise gift for me. When I opened the box, I asked him two questions - where can we put it (we have a small kitchen) and do you actually think we will use it, (in the past, I have often thrown out shop brought ice-cream, as it had gone out of date). But quite quickly, we could see the benefit of making our own ice-cream and after moving a few things around, found a space on my worktop. In the three weeks since it arrived, we have made vanilla, chocolate and banana ice creams and pineapple and rum sherbet. Once you have tried home-made ice-cream, you really notice the difference compared to shop brought and making it yourself allows you to know exactly, what is in the recipe. My partner, often gets a bad stomach after eating shop brought ice-cream, but since making it ourselves, he has been ok. We both loved the vanilla soft scoop ice-cream, but the stand out recipe, was been the banana. We never expected bananas, cut up, put into a tub and frozen for 24 hours and put through the Creami to end up as amazing soft serve ice-cream. Likewise simply putting pineapple and its juice from a tin with rum, makes a sharp tasting sherbet, which will be amazing in the summer. The favour ideas for this machine is endless and if you do need help, there are a few books you can buy online with hundreds of ideas to get you started. I realise that this ice-cream maker is not cheap - each tub holds around four servings and the ice-cream lasts in the freezer for about two weeks. But making ice-cream isn't hard to do, the results really are better than shop brought products and having the option to change the recipes to suit your tastes, is worth every penny, especially if you have kids (or even just big kids). Ninja still have to win, back my trust in their products, but this ice-cream maker has made a start in renewing my confidence. I know that some people have complained about the machine noise and having to wait 24hours before you can use the ice-cream, but the wait is really worth it and the loud noise is only for a few minutes at a time. So far we haven't had any issues with cleaning the machine after use and we were able to understand the machine and how it works, quite quickly.

Depending on the bundle, the Ninja Swirl comes with 2 or 4 480ml tubes.
The Swirl's dimensions are as follows, Darren: H: 44.5cm x W: 38.5cm x D: 25.5cm.
Yes, the NC701UK can make ice cream with goat milk. The Swirl processes dairy and dairy alternative bases into ice cream or soft serve. Freeze the base in the Swirl pint for at least 24 hours, then run Ice Cream or Soft Serve. For best texture use a full fat base with added sugar as guided for similar dairy recipes.
Yes, you can make a coffee style frappe using the Milkshake program. For a quick version add scoops of coffee ice cream and milk to the Swirl Tub, then run Milkshake. The unit can also process a frozen coffee base after you freeze it in the tub for at least 24 hours, then run Milkshake to thin to a sippable texture. It is not a blender and cannot crush ice cubes or make smoothies from ice and liquid. For a classic iced coffee frappe with ice use a Ninja blender instead.
You supply your own mix-in ingredients, there’s no proprietary powder or cartridge. To use the Swirl by CREAMi NC701UK you must choose a liquid base (dairy or non-dairy milk, yogurt or even juice) plus sweetener and flavorings of your choice, then pour up to 480 ml of your mixture into one of the freezer tubs and freeze for 24 hours, lock the frozen pint into the machine, select your program and let the Creamerizer paddle spin it into soft serve or scoopable ice cream.
If you make more ice cream than needed, you can definitely store it in the freezer. However, since temperature can impact the consistency of the preparation, we recommend reprocessing it before attempting to use it.
With the Ninja Creami Swirl, it is possible to make 4 cones per tub.
By using the Ninja Creami swirl, you can achieve a higher quality soft serve ice cream, ensuring its visual appeal and being aware of every ingredient in it!
You can certainly Swirl store-bought ice cream. Just remember to add any mix-ins after it is dispensed.
While this unit doesn't have the capability to make slushies, you can easily create milkshakes! Just blend store-bought or homemade ice cream with milk and your choice of mix-ins for a rich and creamy drink.
Yes you can make a slushi
