Tall hedges getting out of control? The Spear and Jackson 45cm Cordless Pole Hedge Trimmer is an 18V tool for reaching high growth safely. The telescopic pole extends fully so you'll work from the ground instead of ladders. Diamond-ground blades cut cleanly through stems up to 16mm thick. You'll trim at different angles using the pivot head without straining your arms. Dual action blades reduce vibration as you work for better comfort. The quick-stop brake and electronic brake improve safety during operation.
It's powered by a Li-Ion battery that runs for up to 20 minutes per charge. You'll get back to work quickly with the one-hour charging time. The 45cm blade length handles medium hedges efficiently without multiple passes. A soft-grip rear handle keeps control comfortable even on longer jobs. The shoulder strap takes the weight so you won't tyre as quickly. At just 3.5kg it's light enough for extended trimming sessions. Brilliant!
I bought this after my old one cut my finger a second time. I love this trimmer, it is safe to use, I won't have to climb up to the top of my ladder anymore because it has an extremely long reach. I cut my fingers trying to position myself on the ladder and feeling like I am about to drop the trimmer so I automatically grab for the trimmer and grab the moving blades. This one has such a long reach, I could never grab the blades. It has a shoulder strap that helps to make it easier operating the trimmer. I am extremely happy with my purchase!

Efficient cutter
Bought this to cut hedge without having to use stepladder to be able to cut the top of the hedge. It enabled me to cut hedge top and side pretty quickly. The only thing is that it was quite heavy and would be tiring if one had a large hedge.

This is the 2nd one of these I have bought. I mainly purchased this 2nd one to obtain a spare battery for when I'm doing big hedges! It would be good if they sold it with two batteries

Surprisingly powerful cutter with useful change of angle of the cutting head. It is quite heavy and I couldn’t operate for longer than 20 minutes but I got lots done in that time. Great price too. On offer at Argos c£63.00.

After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Spear & Jackson 45cm Cordless Pole Hedge Trimmer - 18V:
"It should be OK but depends on how thick it is, it's difficult to advise further, sorry."
They do add the following further info though:
"An established 10' Leylandii can have thick branches.
This trimmer is suitable for tidying up the outer growth layer but not to go too deep. The height of the pole saw extends to over 6' and angles, so could reach the top at arms length. If the intention is to substantially reduce height however, it should again be noted that the thicker branches will limit the extent. Trimming each year during the growth season is recommended to control height and spread."
