Wooden slats are included to support the mattresses, no additional base needed. The frame can be taken apart and reassembled as two standalone single beds without extra parts. For safety, the top bunk needs a mattress no deeper than 16cm to maintain the guard rail height. There's 82cm of space between bunks, giving headroom for sitting up comfortably.
