Easy to fit and good value.
We brought this as the next level car seat for our granddaughter. The previous car seat was also a Joie so we went for the iBold as we wanted ISOFIX and 5 point harness while she was still small. Easy to fit following a YouTube video to ensure we connected the rear anchor strap correctly. Our granddaughter loves it and feels very grown up in the forward facing seat.

“ We regret that we have not had the opportunity to test fit our i-Bold R129 car seat in a MK3 BMW 66.
Although not all vehicles appear on our fit lists, this does not mean that your choice of seat is not compatible. The lists are guides only and it is recommended that physical fits are conducted by a trained retailer to confirm compatibility and ensure you are 100% happy prior to any purchase. ”

The older versions of this model are harnessed up to 25kg, the newest version up to 22kg

After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Joie iBold Car Seat - Shale: ''Our i-Bold's reduction of harness usage to ≤ 22 kg to adhere to the ISOFIX weight limit under the newest safety standard. When using an ECE R129 car seat with ISOFIX and the five point harness, the total allowed weight limit is 33 kg which includes the weight of the car seat + child. Thus, the lighter the car seat, the more the child can weigh.
We can confirm that our new i-Bold model is certified i-Size and has been tested to ECE R129/03 standards. This model is legally suitable for use from 15 months/76cm up to a maximum height of 105cm and weight of 22kg, then as a highback booster with the vehicle seatbelt holding the seat and child, up to 36kg/105-150cm. This model has 4 recline positions and is installed using the Isofix and top tether.''

All i-Size carseats have to be R129 compliant. However, not all booster car seats are i-Size compatible, probably that is the reason why it is mentioned like that.

This model is legally suitable for use from 15 months/76cm up to a maximum height of 105cm and weight of 22kg, then as a high back booster with the vehicle seatbelt holding the seat and child, up to 36kg/105-150cm.
This model has 4 recline positions and is installed using the Isofix and top tether.

The Joie iBold Car Seat - Shale does not have an airbag inside and should only be used in front seat if there is no active air bag.

“ The i-Bold is suitable from 76cm to 105cm, approximately 15 months to 4 years using the 5 point harness, installed by top tether, isofix and the vehicle seat belt.
Then from 100cm to 150cm, approximately 3 years to 12 years without the harness as a belted booster, installed by isofix, top tether and vehicle seat belt. ”
