Great iron and whizzes through the ironing
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was sent the Philips DST 8020/26 frim the Azur 2000 series to try by rhe influenster panel. Overall, I was very impressed by this steam iron. It looks really good, with the deep blue and gold. It has an extra long cord which is very useful. This iron is a little bit heavier than my previous iron, however it is quite manageable, especially as it doesn't take as long to do the ironing. I found the instructions that came with the iron fairly useless, as this new technology means there is no temperature control, so i was a little wary. In general it was very easy to use and got through the ironing so quickly. I wasn't able to get the vertical steam function to work, but that might have been due to the lack of instructions. After having used this iron several times now i would definitely recommend it 👌

Great and effective Steam Iron
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been impressed with this steam iron. My first thoughts was that it felt noticeably heavier than my previous iron but after a few uses I soon got used to the extra weight. It glides smoothly over fabrics and effortlessly removes creases. One feature I particularly like is its long cord. It gives much more freedom of movement and means I don’t have to position myself so close to the power socket making ironing more comfortable and convenient. The calc release feature is another highlight it’s simple to use and makes it easy to remove limescale buildup which should help maintain the irons condition and performance overtime. The OptimalTemp technology means that it gets the right temperature and prevents burns on fabrics. I also like that it has the auto shut off after several minutes inactivity. Overall I found the iron perfect for every day ironing.

Love this iron
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I do iron nearly everyday so definitely know what a good iron looks like .So from the first unboxing the iron looks stunning very modern and love the colour. Its so much better with a black cable as a white one does tend to get a bit grubby as time goes on .The iron it's self is a bit on the heavy side but who doesn't love a heavy iron because I know I do .The first time in use, I found it to be pretty good and the features with the steam settings are brilliantly designed and does a lovely clean pressed iron ....So happy with this product and would 100% recommend 👌

Safe and efficient
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a good iron. It has the technology to adapt the heat to the material ironed which reduces the risk of burning the materials. It has a long cord which is very handy and makes ironing much easier. The only issue I have with it, is that I can not regulate the heat manually and it can get frustrating at times when ironing linen and cotton .

Sleek and lightweight
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the look of this iron it’s really sleek and lightweight easy to hold and manoeuvre. The vertical steam is really handy. Great too that it’s no burn.

Steamglide elite
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Upgraded to rope cord which is brilliant no discolouring rubber cord also slides up and down in the base. Feels a lot lighter than my previous iron. Easier to fill with a wide opening 240g steam boost and 55g/min continuous steam. Also had a quick calcium release so no more calcium deposits on clothes

Brilliant iron
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] On first impression the iron seems a lot heavier than ones I've previously used, however when in use you don't notice and it glides across clothing with ease. I wish that it came with a water jug because filling can be tricky. The power lead is a very good length and of good quality. It looks and feels very well made and it's also an attractive looking iron. I'm impressed with the automatic turn off feature, it's great for peace of mind

Impressive iron, but the handle structural strength could be a little better.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After using this iron for a few weeks, I am very pleased with its performance. It is comfortable to hold and easy on the wrist due to its lightweight design, making the chore less tiring. The automatic temp sensor takes some time to get used to, but so far it works flawlessly. The steam power is good, and I haven’t had any creasing issues. Sole plate glides through delicate fabrics, and descaling is a breeze. No more wasting time expelling the water. My only gripe is with the handle itself, as it feels like it may snap if I put too much pressure on thick fabrics. I understand the he rationale behind it as it allows it to stand vertically in a stable position. Hopefully, it’s quite safe and well designed to withstand tough tasks.

Brilliant!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Genuinely just a brilliant product. I was worried at first about the optimalTEMP feature, but there was nothing at all to worry about - you don’t need to adjust the temperature because it does it for you! It’s more convenient, less stress, easier and less time consuming!

Hello Summer,
The supplier has advised the following for the Philips Azur 8000 Series Steam Iron:
Yes, the Philips DST8050 steam iron can handle tap water, but with a few best practices to avoid limescale buildup.
Can it use tap water?:
Yes — Philips designs this model to be compatible with regular tap water in most areas.
It also has built-in features like Quick Calc Release to help remove limescale.
When to be careful:
If your area has hard water (high mineral content), limescale can still build up over time.
This may reduce steam performance if not maintained.
Best practices:
- Use tap water for daily convenience
- Perform Calc Clean / Quick Calc Release regularly (every 1–2 weeks if heavily used)
- If your water is very hard, mix 50% tap water + 50% distilled/deionized water
- Avoid fully distilled water only (it can affect the steam system in some cases)
Recommendation:
If using distilled water feels inconvenient, you can safely stick to tap water—just stay consistent with cleaning.
