Great ladders

Bought these ladders about a month ago after reading reviews about the weight I was a bit apprensive about buying .It's true they are quite heavy but manageable this adds to the stability especially in step ladder mode .Very good price compared to similar products out there. I would recommend and I am fussy .I use these for work and they are so well made I can see them lasting years and years

Heavier than other ladders, but makes up for it

My main criteria were to be able to reach my guttering (5.9m up from bottom of the gutter to the ground - measured straight down), and store them indoors. I'm male, mid-forties, 5' 7", small build and generally fit. Well, they're certainly heavy but fine to lift if you don't have to walk far. Very easy to open to full extension whilst on the ground and with one leg against a cast iron soil pipe I could walk them up. It was a bit of an effort at the last couple of pushes but I didn't feel out of control/unsafe. They reached just under the soffit/gutter and standing on the fourth rung from the top I could reach my hand up and over to scoop out the debris. It felt pretty high up so I clung one arm around the ladder and only used my other hand to clear the gutter, rather than with tools. I guess I'd have liked to be a little higher to make it easier and feel safer but that means the next model up - 75056 (MT-26), which increases cost and adds another 7kg, which could make lifting more dangerous. I like how the legs splay out at the ends for some sideward stability. I'm looking into perhaps getting a standoff (stabiliser), with the Werner AC96 Standoff made especially for the 75000 ladders, or the AC78 QuickClick Stabilizer, which seems specific to the States but people say they've had success fitting them (tight) to the MT-22 (aka 75055). Taking them back down looked daunting and it would be best to move the ladder foot to a wall, then tip down. But I ignored the instructions and my own advice and with the ladders still up the wall I dropped the lower, inner ladder, rung by rung. This made it easier to tip the ground without so many feet wobbling above my head. On the ground, I slid everything back in, then partially folded it, lifted it back up and folded it flat. Next time I'll try my own advice so I don't accidentally lose a finger.

One ladder for all

I was in a fix trying to decide between the Werner 4x5 and youngman combi 100. I tried both and i chose this. This is a sturdy ladder. Easy to use. I bought this primarily for step ladder mode and I am really pleased with it. Best of all it’s easy to store. Ladder weight could be issues for some but i feel the bulkiness adds to the stability. The ladder has a flex in extension ladder mode but it’s not something that put me off as i brace the ladder base against sand bags for peace of mind. If you want a ladder that is easy to store, which is sturdy and offers step ladder and extension ladder mode , I suggest you give this a good thought.
