Achieving a Precision Scissor-Cut Finish
As someone who is particular about lawn aesthetics, I have been looking for a tool that balances cut quality with cordless convenience. After using the Yard Force 20V 38cm cylinder mower for several weeks, here is an objective assessment of its performance. The primary advantage of a cylinder mower over a standard rotary model is the cut mechanism. The blade cylinder provides a true precision scissor-cut lawn finish, slicing the grass cleanly rather than tearing it. This prevents the grass tips from turning yellow and recovering slowly. Combined with the integrated rear roller, it consistently lays down defined, professional-looking stripes. If you are researching the best cordless cylinder mower for stripes UK, this model easily meets that requirement in practical application. For typical residential environments, a battery powered cylinder mower for small gardens makes a lot of sense. The 38cm cutting width offers a good balance—wide enough to be efficient, but compact enough to maneuver around borders and garden furniture. The 20V battery system provides adequate runtime for regular maintenance, and the operation is remarkably quiet. This makes it an excellent eco-friendly alternative to petrol cylinder mowers, allowing for early morning weekend mowing without causing noise pollution in the neighborhood. In terms of upkeep, it fits perfectly into the category of maintenance-free cordless garden tools. There are no spark plugs to check, oil to change, or cables to accidentally cut. You simply charge the battery and start mowing. Pros: • Delivers a highly precise, clean cut that promotes lawn health. • Rear roller creates sharp, traditional lawn stripes. • Quiet operation and zero direct emissions. • Lightweight and easy to maneuver. Cons: • Like all cylinder mowers, it struggles with very overgrown, damp, or weedy grass; it is designed for frequent, fine maintenance rather than heavy clearing. • The grass collection box fills relatively quickly on the 38cm width if the grass is on the longer side. Verdict: This Yard Force model does exactly what it is engineered to do: maintain an already reasonable lawn to a very high standard. It is not designed for rough terrain, but for achieving a neat, formal, striped finish with minimal physical effort, it performs reliably and efficiently.

Awful - sent item back for refund
Bought this as an alternative option to petrol mowers as they're are fiddly and wanted a lead free option. Despite fully charging before first use, it sounded weak and ran out after first 20mins. After a recharge it did another 20mins and died; left it overnight and it never fired up again! Noticed too that with both 20mins cuts we had got to do, the box missed catching a lot of the cut grass resulting in mini piles of dead grass to rake up. So not impressive. Arranged a refund and dealt directly with the supplier as Argos were the middle man and holding things up. The supplier was overly-process driven and nigh on useless to the point of driving us nuts, so all in happy to walk away and not return to this product or others from the supplier. Flymo it is.....
