About this product
Get evenly cooked food anywhere in the oven. Catalytic cleaning system for extra-thorough results. LCD touch-control display with pre-programmed recipes. An efficient way to grill, toast, crisp or brown.
Effortlessly cook two meals at once. With the Double Oven you have the choice of fan cooking, conventional cooking and grilling. Giving you two separate areas where you can chose to bake or roast two dishes at the same time.
The Catalytic self-cleaning system, enables you to clean your oven perfectly. The heat-activated coating on the walls thins grease, before the oven burns it off.
With this oven, using energy efficiently also means cooking efficiently. It has a new convection system called Hot Air, which ensures hot air circulates evenly throughout the oven cavity. The result is that the oven heats up faster and cooking temperatures can be reduced by up to 20%, saving you both time and energy.

Controls are a nightmare
This oven replaced an AEG Competence that outwardly looks just the same. The quality is not so good, the illuminated display is FAR poorer and figuring out the controls puts me off using it. The old oven was so straightforward. Switch on: select top/bottom oven//: select function (repeat touch of option): select temperature ( up/down arrows) and away you go. Timer/ start, duration, stop, was also simple. This one ........ain't figured it out yet. Takes all the joy out of cooking. The start/stop/duration setting is virtually the same. This used to be the hardest thing in the old oven. It's the easiest on the new one.

Functions are a nightmare
The oven are both good to cook with, IF......you can master the settings function. I have tried and tried but can't master the logic in how to select what. This replaced a double Competence which was fantastic but this one is a nightmare. I'm not using the oven as it's too much of a hassle with the controls. The old Competance was so simple to use and the display quality so much better. So....I'm disappointed with the oven, but the odd times I've got it to work (on fan for pastries and cakes) it's cooked well and evenly. But no, I don't really like it.

Replacement for a 30 yearold oven that diedMuc
ease of monitoring is first class allowing visual access to small and large ovens. Early stages yet but so far excellent temperature control and accuracy.

Wish we’d purchased one with knobs
Well, the oven works – which is to be expected. But it’s been a nightmare trying to understand the flimsy instruction manual – easily the worst of its kind I have ever seen. 1. There are no instructions about how to turn off the top or bottom oven, a fundamental omission. The easiest way is to switch the power off – not useful if both ovens are in use. We found the answer: press the square Options Sensor Field 2. The Before First Use Section (5) step 1 says to select the conventional oven function in the top oven, but the top oven doesn’t have a conventional oven setting 3. The Display Section (4.2) mentions the “programme” and the Options Sensor Field descriptions mentions “automatic programme” but the manual doesn’t explain that “programme” is the same as the oven function – I spent ages trying to find out what the programmes were 4. Sections 6.4 and 10.2 and 10.3 explain the moist fan baking function. I have read the sections over and over again and I have no idea what it means. 5. The Catalytic Cleaning function is shown in the list of oven functions, but you don’t get to it by pressing the arrow up or arrow down sensor field. It’s selected using the square Options Sensor Field 6. Section 7, Clock Functions is 2 pages long, Section 6, Daily Use is 1 page long – enough said. 7. The manual came with an insert with details of the economy/half grill. The oven doesn’t have an economy/half grill. Then there’s the operation of the oven itself: 8. The most common top oven function we use is grilling. That requires 7 presses of different sensor fields, more if the temperature needs to be changed. (All our previous ovens just required the turning of a knob). 9. The oven function selection kicks in automatically after 5 seconds which means we have to turn it the oven off and back on again if it isn’t the one we want. 10. Unlike other ovens we’ve had, there is no detachable handle for the grill pan 11. The oven works, we’re getting used to the controls – but we wish we had purchased one with knobs and not touch sensor fields.

So far so good.
Early days but all going well. My wife has found the operating system to be straightforward and intuitive. Cooking performance is good.

Very slow to heat and settle
Very very disappointed. The oven indicates it’s up to temperature after 11 minutes. However, in reality this oven takes a minimum of 40 minutes to heat up to temperature and stabilise at an even temperature before baking. When I try to bake before 40 minutes heating time, the bake is very uneven. Can burn on the bottom and not bake on the top. Sponges, buns and scones don’t rise properly until the oven has heated up and stabilised for 40 minutes. Very poor bake using 3 racks. Can only bake one tray at a time. Too slow for me. Very poor efficiency for me. I like to stack an oven and get a consistent bake. This oven will not give you that

Looks great and works once heated up.. but..
The oven indicates is up to temperature at least 10 minutes before two oven thermometers give the same reading. In general the oven says is at 180 after about 8 mins yet it can take up to 20 for it to actually at that temp .

Happy.. but also..
So, basically I love having the fan functionality in the top oven. And both ovens seem to hold consistent temp and cook really nicely (tried cakes, roasts and sourdoughs!) but I've a serious gripe.. Both ovens tells you is up to temperature when it's no where near. Used two different thermometers to check after I used it the first time and meal wasn't cooked in usual time and both ovens take at least 10 mins longer than the reading says to come to the actual temperature setting. It's really annoying and , ultimately a bit of a hazard health wise if you're not the type to check with thermometer or other means! Design is good , manual could be improved but controls easy once youve got the hang of it.

Heating element broke after 5 years
In general very happy with the AEG products. We own a Fridge Freezer, an induction hob and a double oven. The Oven had a major fault within 5 years +/- 3 months. The Oven heating element died on the top oven. This is something we would only expect from a budget version as the average lifespan of a heating element is suppose to be 10 years (+/-5 years) so the lower end of 5 years is something you would only expect from a budget version of an oven. We used the service repair option and luckily this went really well and the engineers were very friendly. The Fridge/Freezer is a different ball game and has a major design fault. After two years the Fan froze up on an annual basis. We understand that only the Fridge is Frost Free BUT how can there be ice build up pretty much exactly every year on the Fan, stopping it to function? > After 3 rounds of defrosting only because the fan had a build up of ice, I took a different approach and removed the small top shelf (anout 8 cm height) right under the top of the freezer, below where the fan sits in a housing. This solved the issue to an extend that no defrosting was done now for the last 4 years and there is no or absolute minimal ice build up in the freezer compartment.

Good as it looks.
We love our new oven especially the slide out shelves. Looking forward to putting it through it's paces.

Yes, the AEG DCE731110M does have a touch control display with adjustable brightness, which means it includes background illumination. The user manual mentions a setting for “Brightness of the display” under the additional functions section, allowing you to change how bright the display appears during operation.
The display panel on the AEG DCE731110M double oven is an LCD touch-control display. The oven itself is finished in stainless steel with black glass, and the display panel is typically described as black with white/amber digital characters. This LCD display shows the clock, minute minder, cooking duration, and delay start functions.
So, to summarize:
Display panel colour: Black (LCD) with white/amber digital text
Oven finish: Stainless steel and black glass

Based on the official AEG documentation and grill function descriptions:
🔍 Grill Functions on the AEG DCE731110M:
Function 6 – Grill: This is the standard full-width grill, ideal for toasting or grilling small portions. It uses the entire top heating element.
Function 7 – Turbo Grill (or Fan Grill): This combines the grill element with the fan, circulating hot air for even cooking, especially useful for meats.
❓ What about Economy or Half Grill?
The Economy Grill (also known as Half Grill) typically uses only the central part of the top heating element, making it more energy-efficient for smaller portions.
However, if your oven only lists Grill and Turbo Grill and does not show a separate Economy or Half Grill function, then:
✅ Function 6 (Grill) is likely a dual-purpose mode that automatically operates as a Half Grill when used at lower power settings or with smaller portions.
This is common in modern AEG ovens where the grill function adjusts output based on temperature or load, even if it's not explicitly labeled as "Economy Grill."
To operate the Economy Grill / Half Grill function on the AEG DCE731110M oven, even though there are no physical knobs, you can use the touch control panel. Here's how to activate that specific function:
🔧 Steps to Use the Economy Grill (Half Grill) Function:
Turn on the oven by pressing the power symbol on the control panel.
Select the top oven (if applicable), as the grill functions are usually in the smaller top cavity.
Touch the function selector icon (usually a symbol that looks like a grill element or a square with a line at the top).
Scroll through the cooking functions using the arrow or swipe buttons until you find the Economy Grill or Half Grill symbol. This is typically represented by a zigzag line at the top of a square.
Confirm the selection by pressing the OK or confirm icon.
Set the temperature (usually around 150–250°C depending on what you're grilling).
Press Start to begin grilling.
This function uses only part of the grill element, making it ideal for smaller portions and saving energy.
To operate the Economy Grill (Half Grill) function on the AEG DCE731110M oven, follow these steps:
🔧 How to Use the Economy Grill (Half Grill) Function
Turn the Function Selector Knob
Rotate the knob to the Economy Grill symbol. This typically looks like a jagged line at the top of a square, but only half-width—indicating that only part of the top heating element is active.
Set the Temperature
Use the temperature control knob to select your desired grilling temperature. For most grilling tasks, this is usually between 160°C and 220°C, depending on the food.
Position the Food
Place your food on the wire shelf or in the grill/roasting pan.
Use the middle or upper shelf position for best results.
Keep the oven door closed during grilling to maintain temperature and safety.
Monitor Cooking
The Economy Grill is ideal for smaller portions or when you want to grill just one side of a dish.
Keep an eye on the food to avoid overcooking or burning.
Turn Off After Use
Once done, turn both knobs to the off position.
Allow the oven to cool before cleaning.
This function is energy-efficient and perfect for grilling smaller items like toast, cheese melts, or thin cuts of meat.
Yes, the AEG SurroundCook Catalytic Built-in Oven DCE731110M allows you to use both the upper and lower ovens simultaneously. This feature is particularly useful for cooking multiple dishes at once, as it provides separate cooking zones with different temperature settings and cooking functions.

If your AEG DCE731110M oven keeps tripping the electrical circuit, it could be due to several common issues:
Circuit Overload: Ensure that the oven is not sharing the circuit with other high-power appliances. If it is, try redistributing the load to different circuits.
Faulty Appliance Components: Internal components like the heating element, thermostat, or wiring might be defective. These can cause the oven to draw excessive power.
Electrical Issues: Check the plug and socket for any visible damage. A loose or damaged plug can cause the circuit to trip.
Blown Fuse: The oven might have a blown internal fuse that needs replacement.
For safety reasons, it's best to consult a professional technician to diagnose and fix the issue. They can safely inspect and repair any electrical faults.
I'm sorry to hear about your oven troubles! Here are a few troubleshooting tips:
Circuit Overload: Your oven might be drawing more power than the circuit can handle, especially if other high-power appliances are on the same circuit. Try unplugging other appliances to reduce the load.
Faulty Heating Element: The heating element might be damaged or have degraded insulation, causing a short circuit or earth leakage. Inspect the heating element for any visible damage.
Electrical Short Circuit: Look for signs of a short circuit, such as sparks or a burning smell. If you notice these signs, it's best to call a professional.
Ground Fault: A ground fault can occur if the oven's wiring is damaged or if there's a fault in the oven's components. This often requires professional diagnosis and repair.
Damaged Outlet or Plug: Check the outlet and plug for any signs of damage or wear. Sometimes, simply replacing a faulty plug can solve the issue.
Faulty Circuit Breaker: If the circuit breaker itself is faulty, it might trip even if the oven is working correctly. Testing the oven on a different circuit can help determine if this is the case.
If these steps don't resolve the issue, you will need a service visit. Please contact our team on 03445 611611.
