Customers Say
Compact, portable BBQ ideal for 2-4 people, easy to assemble and clean. Good value for money with decent cooking performance, though some find the grill too close to coals and lid ventilation restrictive.

Small, but mighty!
Bought this for small family barbecues and it does the job! A bit fiddly to put together, but not too bad. Perfect if there's only 2/3 of you. Easy to clean if you line with silver foil

Its ok - just a bit better than a disposable BBQ
This BBQ requires around 30 minutes of assembly before first use. You’ll need to attach the latches, wire-frame feet, handle, and vent. All nuts and bolts are included, and only a crosshead screwdriver and pliers are needed. However, the metal feels extremely flimsy — even tightening the fittings causes creaking and cracking noises, which doesn’t inspire confidence in its durability. The design itself is poorly thought out. The charcoal tray sits directly beneath the cooking grill with no option to adjust the cooking height. The lid appears to be designed to retain heat, but in reality it seals too tightly and restricts airflow so badly that it starves the charcoal of oxygen. After lighting the BBQ and waiting for the coals to turn white, we added food and closed the lid. Within minutes the temperature had dropped significantly and the charcoal had almost gone out completely. We had to add more charcoal and relight the BBQ, this time cooking with the lid permanently open. Even then, the cooking space was limited — 8 sausages and 3 burgers filled most of the grill, leaving little room for anything else. The airflow issue is undeniable. Even with the vent fully open, once cooking was finished we placed the lid back on and the remaining charcoal extinguished itself so effectively that it could safely be disposed of just 35 minutes later into a plastic carrier bag. In its current form, this BBQ simply doesn’t function properly with the lid closed. It would need additional ventilation holes in the lower section to allow enough oxygen in for the charcoal to burn correctly. Its only real advantage is portability, making it convenient for trips to the beach or park. Unfortunately, the build quality feels cheap enough that I’d expect it to last only a handful of uses before needing replacement. There is a real worry of food poisoning with this product as it cooks the outside of the food really quickly (because it so close to the charcoal) and doesnt give you confidence that the inside of the food has been cooked properly. I would recommend drilling the extra holes into the base (like a pepper pot) and cooking with the lid off.

Hi Spall92.
Argos Home Portable Charcoal BBQ:
Having checked the instructions, the legs screw into place. These could be unscrewed, when the BBQ has cooled, to store if preferred. Please see the link below for the fitting instructions:

Thank you for using Q and A.
Hi there
The middle tray on the Home Portable Charcoal BBQ holds the charcoal coals and the holes provide ventilation for the coals to burn thoroughly and for ash to drop down into the bottom of the barbecue.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi there,
The Argos Home Portable Charcoal BBQ, should be used on a firm, level, fire retardent surface. So it would not be suitable on Grass.

Hello Su,
The supplier has advised the following for the Home Portable Charcoal BBQ:
“ Apologies, the portable wouldn't function as a smoker, you can of course adjust the air flow on the lid to reduce or increase the temperature / burn rate for a lower / slower cooking function.
For a smoker to function you need a lower vent (in), and an upper vent (out) flowing over a compartment for the smoke chips. ”
Thanks for using Q&A.
