Review: The Ninja Woodfire Outdoor Oven (OO101) – A Blind Person’s Perspective I am reviewing this oven from the perspective of someone who is totally blind, in case someone in my situation is considering buying one. So, what is it? The Ninja Woodfire Outdoor Oven is a rugged, purpose-built electric oven designed for the elements. It is shaped somewhat like a large, rounded treasure chest or a heavy-duty professional toaster oven. Exterior and Build It features a sturdy, weather-resistant finish. The door flips down towards you and is accessed via a prominent handle; it requires confident pressure to open, which I find to be a good safety feature. Below the door sits the display and control panel. There are two dials: the left-hand dial chooses the operating mode, while the right-hand dial adjusts time and temperature. There are four buttons: one engages the Woodfire function, two determine whether the right-hand dial is adjusting time or temperature, and the fourth is the Start/Stop button. The Start/Stop button is very prominent. The others, although not touch-sensitive, are almost flush with the surface, but you will soon get used to their placement. Navigating the Controls The left-hand dial clicks when turned, meaning you can learn the position of each function and find it easily. Crucially, the dial cannot be turned beyond its end point. By ensuring you start at the "Off" position (fully anticlockwise), you can navigate with total confidence. The right-hand dial turns continuously. However, as the oven defaults to a specific temperature and time for each mode, it is still possible to set these without sight because the dial provides distinct clicks as it rotates. For example, to select Bake, you first ensure the left-hand dial is at the "Off" position and then rotate it exactly four clicks to the right. In this mode, the oven defaults to 370°C for 30 minutes. The time moves in increments of 5 minutes per click of the right-hand dial, and the temperature moves by 5 degrees per click. Therefore, if you wanted to set the oven to 180°C, you would select Bake, press the temperature button, and rotate the right-hand dial 34 clicks to the left. To increase the cooking time to 40 minutes, you would press the time button and rotate the right-hand dial two clicks to the right. The increments vary across functions, so there is no shame in seeking sighted assistance or using an AI app. In my experience, Gemini reads the oven’s display consistently. The Smoke Box and Power Mounted on the right-hand exterior wall is the spring-loaded smoke box. This is where you add wood pellets or empty the ash. It is this little box that makes the oven glorious. Once the pellets are ignited, this box gets seriously hot—avoid touching it until it has properly cooled. The 1.9m cable emerges from the back right-hand corner. You will need to be within reach of an external socket or use a high-quality extension lead suited to the task (such as those from Tough Leads). Just above the cable entry, you will find the master On/Off switch. Safety and Placement (Vital Notice) This oven must be used outdoors. Do not, under any circumstances, fire it up indoors or in an unventilated space. Because it burns wood pellets, it produces real smoke and carbon monoxide; using it indoors would be potentially lethal. It needs a stable, flat surface outdoors, and while you can bring it inside for storage once it is stone-cold, it must only ever be operated under the open sky. Inside the Oven The interior is surprisingly spacious, designed to fit a 12-inch pizza stone or a standard roasting pan. The accessory rack can be positioned at the top or bottom; usually the bottom, unless you require top-heat for grilling. The Pro Heat tray and pizza stone get extremely hot and retain that heat for a long time. Personally, I leave the tray in place and remove the food using tongs or a spatula. For pizzas, use a pizza peel to remove your stone-baked creation. Ninja does not supply a peel with the oven—a bit stingy, I thought (sorry Ninja, bah humbug!)—but they do sell an excellent one separately. What I love about the interior setup is that the accessory rack slides towards you and hits a stop rather than crashing to earth. It makes sending food into, or removing it from, "Hades" a lot safer. Cleaning Cleaning is straightforward. Thus far, I have only had to wipe it with a damp cloth or run a "Bake" cycle empty to burn off grime. Note that the Pro Heat tray is not dishwasher safe, though the racks are. The pizza stone must never get wet; simply brush off any residue. In Conclusion If you seek predictable results, like the thought of a wood fire without the hassle of charcoal, and are prepared to navigate the learning curve, this oven is for you. It is a shame there isn’t an app-controlled version yet, but this does just fine. I have paid good money for wood-fired pizza in the past that isn’t as good as what I am making now. I highly recommend it. Let the music play and the feasting begin!

Go to the gym first before you attempt to place it
Still in box not opened as of yet. Hopefully I will find a trolley stand to support it as it weighs a ton very substantial.

Looking forward to summer outdoor cooking
Still experimenting with this sturdy piece of kit, but will get more use when the weather improves. Very heavy and can only be used outside, so find a suitable table, or stand to support it. DO NOT wash the pizza stone, it is supposed to stain and will crack if you wash it. It'll need to be located near an appropriate power source. Additional accessories I'd recommend are; - a pizza peel, oven gloves (inside it reaches very high temperatures), a meat thermometer, a sturdy surface to keep it on and an all weather cover.

Well impressed!
Easy to use, fairly easy to clean. Very high temperatures can lead to some meals being a lot tastier than when cooked in a conventional oven. Definitely recommend.

This pizza oven does not come with the outdoor cover if you purchase it by itself. However, there is a bundle that can be purchased on the Ninja Kitchen UK website that contains the oven and a stand and cover to go along with it.
We can confirm that the Ninja Woodfire is suitable for an outdoor porcelain counter as long as you ensure the surface is clean, dry and stable before use.
The WOODFIRE FLAVOUR function and Smoker will only work with the pellets inside the smoke box. All the other functions can be used without, but the results can vary.
Yes, you can use an extension lead if it is outdoor rated and marked suitable for outdoor appliances, and it should be 15 m or 50 ft or less to avoid voltage drop; plug into a properly grounded RCD protected outlet. Using the wrong type of lead can overheat or lengthen preheat and cook times.
