Customers Say
The Manhattan T4-R Freeview box offers easy setup, ample storage, and the ability to record 2 programs while watching a third. It provides good picture quality and is a cost-effective alternative to Sky, though some find the remote and startup speed less ideal.

Easy set up
Simple to connect, easy to use. Would never have considered purchasing but Sky increased my monthly payment by an enormous amount. The one off cost of the Manhattan T4•R was less than 4 monthly payments to Sky. As a shift worker this is ideal for me - never miss an episode of my favourite programmes.

Manhattan v H ?
Have given 5 stars for the product though there were problems getting a strong enough signal from our router and involved us buying a second "STRONG" booster £80 None of this had been required with our previous box beginning with H! Because of this it was necessary for use to use a specialist for installation and set up. Maybe some Moore techi geeks than u could have sorted but it wasn't that straightforward! Having said that, now it's INSTALLED, CONNECTED and all PAID, it appears to be working well. I see it says we can can record 2 programmes whilst watching a third; our previous H box allowed us to record 4! We are getting used to it, as I said 5* because there is nothing wrong with Manhattan it's just not H! Telephone helpline Very Poor.

Good recorder
Pleased with it so far, easy to set up to WiFi and good for catch up. It would be better if you could record more than two programmes.

Much more storage.
I already had a T3R but needed additional storage so I bought this as I was happy with my T3R. In comparison this is a little slower to start up and the remote needs to be pointed directly at the unit for it to respond. I had to tweak some of the settings to get it to operate as per the T3R whereas they were the default settings on the T3R. Overall the T3R has been very reliable for several years and I hope this will be just as reliable.

Time for Sky Recorder to Go
Decided to ditch Sky as we were pretty much just using it to record terrestrial TV. We of course then needed something as a replacement so decided to purchase the Manhattan T4-R 2 TB recorder as it provided the multi chanel recording function along with a good storage capacity. It is early days for us in regards to using the recorder but it does look like we have made a very good choice. The set up was pretty straight forward and the remote is pretty much like a Sky remote so familiarity is there. For some this model might be too costly but for us it was pretty much equivalent to 3 months Sky subscription so overall it will be cost effective for us.

Good value
Excellent device with record 2 and watch another channel but did need an external aerial and a signal booster to get the best from it. I did get 100 plus channels without the signal booster (from a loft aerial) but now have 200 plus without sound distortion and pixelation. Wanted to get away from the permanent 2 year contract from sky, still gets sky news and sky mix on Freeview though. No easy way to get prime or netflix through the box but my smart TV handles these over an internet connection. The interface is slightly different to sky Q but has functions to hide, delete and set favourites. The record function of record 2 channels and watch a third works very well. Very pleased but did have to wait 2 days to collect from an outlet.

Hi Bill,
Thanks for your query about the Manhattan T4-R 2TB Freeview Play 4K TV Recorder.
The Manhattan T4-R 2TB box will need to be connected to a rooftop TV aerial signal to be able to tune in to the Freeview broadcast channels and to be able to record those broadcast channels. If Talking Pictures TV is a Freeview channel then you won't be able to get it without an aerial connection.
Any Catch Up and On Demand services can be accessed when the box is connected to the Internet. The Internet connection can be achieved using the Wi-Fi method of connection that the box supports. From the information we have available though, Talking Pictures TV does not have such Catch Up or On Demand services.
Thanks for using Q&A.
