Great features. Not comfortable for me.
The watch I bought from Argos appeared to have been bought previously as the countdown Timer was pre-set to an odd time and the box was pretty tatty. Not good. The watch itself was bought on special offer and for the functions/value it is very good. Multi Band 6 and Tough Solare are great. the size is perfect for those wanting a smaller G-Shock. For me though, I could not get on with the watch strap. It was not comfortable for me compared to my other G-Shocks so reluctantly I had to return the watch.

Appears to have it all, great price last forever!
The third Casio from Argos since feb but this has everything I wished the other two had. The display is very clear and the U version updated with the LED backlight (EL displays have a finite life) and is still perfectly bright enough), can be set to stay on for 1 or 3 seconds, plus automatically illuminates as you tilt your wrist to look at it when in low light. Also the time is displayed while in stopwatch/timer mode. It synchronises with MSF and does so on my wrist overnight is great, with the solar you never need worry about battery running down using that feature or the light too much, also no concern losing factory waterproofing during battery change. The fact is is a G-Shock for this price point too. The only downside? The beep a little quiet but I understand this is common on all waterproof watches. Argos experience as usual perfect, easy - and I will be going back in and arranging the argos 3 year insurance for £15 as mentioned at purchase time.

Who said diamonds (scratch that!) Casio is forever
Before I say anything about this watch, I should make two disclosures. First, I grew up in the 1970s and 1980s, when having a Casio watch was almost as important as having a bicycle. Second, towards the end of my teenage years, I was drafted into special forces, where a reliable, solid, tough, waterproof, digital, and backlit quartz watch was almost as essential as your knife and gun. With that in mind, the fact that this GW‑M5610‑1ER has stood the test of time (no surprise there, Casio!) for over 15 years—and is solar-powered—really says it all. What are you waiting for? I simply love this watch (and I wasn’t even paid to say that). Beyond its excellent functionality, every time I look at it on my wrist, it feels like stepping into a time capsule back to my youth. Not many everyday items have that effect on me.

Awesome watch
I bought this watch couple of months ago and I’m so happy with the purchase. The design of the watch is classic, it feels strong and durable and most importantly it’s solar powered so you don’t have to worry about changing the battery. Overall very happy with the purchase.

Returned
Returned after 24hrs. Wouldn’t leave world time. Wouldn’t let me go through all programs so couldn’t change day/date. Unusual for a watch of this quality but I suppose there’s always one and I got it.

Bargain
Does everything a watch needs to do. Best value watch that will out last its warranty and much more expensive watches.

G Shock GW-M5610U-1ER
G Shock GW-M5610U-1ER for my 11 year old lad after his SATs as a well done present. Watch fits him well even though it’s also for an adult. Also it’s a slim G Shock so doesn’t protrude too tall so not big and bulky. He loves it. Is it worth £100? I’d say £50-60 but it is what it is nowadays. It’s solar so no battery’s to change and should last him for years. It also allowed me to have the date DD.MM

Reliability
Highly recommended if you value reliability over flash. Once you own one, you’ll understand why so many people have a “one G-Shock is never enough” problem. Five stars for pure dependability

Hello Will,
The supplier has advised the following for the
Casio G-SHOCK Men's Black Resin Strap Watch:
The GW-M5610-1ER is designed specifically for use with a resin strap, and we do not manufacture or supply a nylon band compatible with this particular range.
Thank you for using Q and A.
Hello Bobby,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Casio G-SHOCK Men's Black Resin Strap Watch: The bezel of this watch around the red borderline is black.
Thank you for using Q&A.
It has one alarm, two adjustable clocks -world time, a countdown timer, a stopwatch. Its very much the same as most other casio digital watches and Im not sure its worth the price of a hundred pounds but thats the customers choice. The fact that its a G-Shock watch doesnt make it any more or less likely to be broken in an accident as with any watches so I wont be buying it when Ive found other options that do exactly the same as this one but are a quarter or even a fifth of the price. My opinion

Hello Gabriel,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Casio G-SHOCK Men's Black Resin Strap Watch: ''Please note that the "U" version is the newer version and is the only variant of this particular model. The non "U" version was discontinued in 2021.''
Thank you for using Q and A.

Hello Silky08,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Casio Men's G-Shock Black Resin Strap Watch: ''Please be advised that Casio products now come in a eco-friendly packaging and we no longer supply tins for our watches.''
Thank you for using Q & A.
Cardboard cartoon. There is no tin. The packaging is not decorative or fancy. It comprises three recycled paper cardboard parts and a seemingly natural cloth, possibly muslin, bag that contains it within the box. Within the bag, the watch is supported on a ring of cardboard in the bag.
Its one of the smaller mens Gshocks and. Could be worn by a 9yo but maybe big depending on how much he likes it!
I got my 9yo daughter something from the Baby G line, which is the g shocks aimed at women and children - that ordinarily would have smaller wrists.
Hello Keana,
The supplier has advised the following for the Casio Men's G-Shock Black Resin Strap Watch:
“ Please be advised that all of our watch straps are approximately 8 inches. The customer can adjust the strap to fit their wrist with the use of the strap holes. ”
Thanks for using Q&A.
The one I got last week is the Updated GW-M5610U model so its date can be set as dd.mm.
A few days after collecting it, Argos kindly emailed me a Product Support message with links to Get Online Support and Instruction Manual. This instruction manual was just a single pdf sheet outlining the basic features etc and carried the old model number GW-M5610-1ER. A tiny full paperback manual is supplied with the watch and its pdf appears on its manufacturer website.
Ignore what Argos said, it makes no sense and is wrong. The U version is the updated version without the EL not the UK version!?! ER means it is the European version. There is contradictions in the pictures and the descriptions but looking through the reviews it seems around 2021 is when the U version is introduced to Argos stock, judging by the pictures. You could get weirdly lucky and receive an EL but you are definitely getting the LED version.
This is the M5610U which is the updated version that is able to show both the American date format of MM DD and the Eurorean date format of DD MM
