Great value for the features and quality
Bought this because a ring doorbell wouldn't cover the front of the house. Easy to install and setup. No subscription fees unless you want to pay the £2.99/month so you can watch recordings back on the app - otherwise you're messing around with an SD card. Picture is really good quality, has night vision, you can remotely change the angle/tilt etc or set to patrol. Picks up audio so you can use as a kind of intercom. You can turn on the spotlight from the app too, you don't really need it though. Overall, easy to setup, great features, very good quality and value for money.

Awesome camera, both internal and external. Very easy to install and link to wifi. Good clear video feed and pictures. Seems fine externally so far in bad wet weather

Purchased about 2 weeks ago, easy to fit and pleased with the pictures, good quality considering the cost. Being white it was a little too visible so I spray painted it Matt black (with appropriate masking) which has probably invalidated the warranty but it fits in much better, a shame there isn’t a black option!

The C510W can absolutely record to an SD card without WiFI
You need to configure the camera with a Wi-Fi connection (even a temporary connection using a Wi-Fi hotspot) before moving it to an area without Wi-Fi. Here are the specific steps:
1. Set up the camera and insert a compatible microSD card.
2. In the Tapo App, go to: Camera Card → Gear icon (top right) → Storage & Recording.
3. Enable Local Recording.
4. On the Local Storage page, enable Loop Recording — this will automatically overwrite the oldest footage when the SD card is full, so you don't need to manually manage storage.
5. On the Recording Schedule page, set it to Continuous Recording (records all the time) or Detection Recording (records only when motion is detected).
6. Once configured, relocate the camera to your rural location and power it on — recording will continue automatically, even without WiFi.
Viewing the Recordings
• On a computer: Remove the SD card from the camera, insert it into your computer using an SD card reader, and open the MP4 files directly. Files are named with date and time prefixes for easy navigation.
• On your mobile/tablet via Tapo App: Once you bring the camera back to a location with WiFi and reconnect it, you can view and download recordings directly through the Tapo App under Live View → Playback & Download → Playback, then tap the SD Card icon and select the date.
So in summary — yes, it will record and overwrite automatically, but to view footage on a phone/tablet you'll either need to temporarily reconnect the camera to WiFi, or use a computer with an SD card reader.

You can set it up to choose whether to do this. They advise the following: "With the Loop Recording feature enabled on your Tapo camera, the microSD card will automatically overwrite the oldest recorded videos when it becomes full. This ensures continuous recording without the need for manual deletion. To enable or disable Loop Recording, please go to the Tapo app > Camera's Device Settings > Storage & Recording > microSD card page."

I can advise the following for the Tapo C510W 2K 360 Outdoor Security Camera:
It does run on Wi-Fi connections, the same could be said about wired CCTV and the cable being cut. They are able to be jammed with a Signal Jammer, but only when it's on the correct channel and frequency.
