Does the job
This was purchased to replace a Humax box which stopped working. We've had it a few weeks now and seems to work, on balance, probably slightly better than the Humax. It has similar features and the menu appears to work in a similar way. Freesat removed the feature that allows remote setting of recording programs when we had the Humax and this unit has the same features removed even thought the instructions appear to suggest its there. It isn;t there so thats slightly confusing for anybody that doesn;t know about this.Vision and sound from the box is very good and the internet features are better than the Humax. Slightly annoyingly if you set record for a new version of a set of programmes, it'll record every programme new, old and repeats instead of just the new one that you select. The Humax started doing that as well. Overall, it does the job although it appears that the 500Gb version is the only one easily obtainable.

Good alternative to SKYQ
Purchased a few weeks ago after cancelling Sky. Once you get used to it (doesn't take long) - it really does what it says on the tin. I loved the ease of SkyQ to remind me to watch programmes, this is probably the best alternatives to it, and saves ££££ in the long term. Some channels you dont get, but really I have not missed them. I went for the 500GB box as rarely do I keep anything, watch then delete. I havent gone below 88% available memory and use it a lot. Remote control, as others have said, is a bit clunky, and start up can be slower than you are used to, but not enough to be a pain. Those with newer Sky dish may need a change in the transmitter on it, I did, cost me just over £100 but included moving the connection to another room. Can't say I have missed Sky.

Great, but...
Very pleased with my Freesat Recorder. Almost everything is perfect. My only gripe is that it doesn't allow for padding when setting a recording, ie setting it to record a couple of minutes before and after the start and end times so you don't miss any of the programme.

Easy to use.
Bought to replace an old Freesat recorder, seems great so far, easy to connect and record/use and with enough storage for my use (500GB). It did a software update within 24 hours and the screen layout changed but all ok and good quality pictures at HD resolution.

Freesat performance
Freesat box seems very slow to start up and has to be switched off/on to fire it back into action if the tv hasn't been used recently. This is the first Freesat box I have used and not overly impressed with the performance and user interface. Haven't tried connecting to broadband services yet.

Efficient set up
Replaced old set, Easy to set up, picture clear, recording two channels is easy and recall straight forward. Not over expensive for the features and easy to use.
