About this product
Garages, sheds and outbuildings often hold bikes, tools and garden equipment worth protecting, but running mains power for security can be a hassle. This Yale wireless shed and garage alarm is battery-operated with no cables, so you can set it up in minutes whether wall mounting or freestanding. The motion detector covers a 12m range, and the keypad lets you arm or disarm it before entering. A 110dB siren sounds after a 10-second entry delay, giving time to disable it while deterring intruders.
The wire-free design means you can secure caravans, workshops or any outbuilding without drilling through walls for cables. A low battery indicator gives you advance warning before power runs out, so you're not caught without protection. The 4 AA batteries keep things simple to replace without specialist tools or call-outs. Wall mounting or freestanding use gives flexibility depending on your space, and the included fixing pack covers installation either way.

Hello there,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Yale Wireless Shed and Garage Alarm: It has a built in motion sensor that still works even when the room is in complete darkness.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hi Kenny. Theres no way of adjusting the range, however you could experiment by applying some non-see-through tape over parts of the motion sensor. Like coloured or white electrical tape that is opaque. This would stop the motion sensor from having its full field of view if you didnt want it to detect motion from a particular direction or angle. However there would be no way of reducing the distance of an object being detected. Hope this helps.
Hello Kenny.
Yale Wireless Shed and Garage Alarm:
The alarm has a fixed PIR motion‑sensor range of 12m and there is no option to adjust or reduce the detection distance.

Hi Jonny. So according to an answer by a Yale representative on the Yale website, the alarm will ring for 30 seconds if you do not insert the code. After 30 seconds, the siren will stop ringing. Then, if motion is detected again, the siren will ring for another 30 seconds. This keeps repeating until you enter the code. This is reassuring as it youre not at home and theres a false alarm, it will ring for 30 seconds only and not annoy neighbours. But it will ring again if theres more motion.
I've only let it ring for a few minutes as it's loud.
Hi Jonny,
Yale Wireless Shed and Garage Alarm
Having checked I can see once triggered if the pin is not entered within ten second the alarm will go off until the pin is entered.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi Sandbox. This alarm uses a type of sensor called a PIR. Passive Infra Red. This means it detects motion by sensing it theres a moving object that is of a different temperature to the room or shed that the alarm is located in. So it can detect a warm bodied human moving, or even a hot blast of air from a radiator. However, because a PIR motion detector cannot detect through a window, this means that motion on the other side of a shed window, like your cat, will not cause an alarm.
Hello Sandbox,
The supplier has advised the following for the Yale Wireless Shed and Garage Alarm:
“ We suggest the device is not facing a window as it can false trigger. ”
Thanks for using Q&A.
