Games console guide.

With consoles featuring handheld versatility, revolutionary VR and graphics like never before, gaming has reached a whole new level.

The Nintendo Switch is a breakthrough video game console, allowing you to enjoy HD gaming at home while also easily converting to a handheld device to take on-the-go, making it a hit with both kids and grown-up gamers. It also allows you to play plenty of games from exclusive Nintendo series like Mario Kart, Pokémon and The Legend of Zelda.

Why choose the Nintendo Switch?

As a gaming experience, the Nintendo Switch is entirely unique. Built to be flexible, you can play it as a traditional console on a TV, enjoy interactive multiplayer fun with friends and take it on-the-go as a handheld device.

The Joy-Con controllers can work as part of a traditional controller in the Joy-Con grip (like in the image above), or as two separate multiplayer controllers. They also act as the controls when you use the Nintendo Switch in handheld mode.

Play locally with friends, where it's possible to link up to 8 consoles. You can also voice chat, join online lobbies and buy games from the Nintendo eShop. Enjoy features such as online play and cloud data saving with an online membership (there is a subscription fee).

Play on your TV, tabletop, and on-the-go

There are many ways to play on the versatile Switch:

TV mode: Place the Nintendo Switch in its dock, which connects to your TV, for HD gaming. The dock will also charge the Switch at the same time.

Handheld mode: Remove the Nintendo Switch from its dock and attach the Joy-Con controllers to the sides of the screen to play anywhere. In this mode a single charge can last 3-6 hours, depending on what you're playing.

Tabletop Mode: Flip the stand on the back of the Switch to stand it up on a surface, making it an easy way of sharing the screen for multiplayer fun wherever you are. Hand a Joy-Con controller to a friend and play!

Nintendo Switch Lite

Ideal for gamers on-the-go, the Nintendo Switch Lite is a compact, lightweight version of the Nintendo Switch, with integrated controls.

It supports all Nintendo Switch software that can be played in handheld mode. It's great for gamers who enjoy playing out and about, and for anyone who wants to play online or local wireless multiplayer with friends or family who already own a Switch.

As it's handheld only, the Nintendo Switch Lite doesn't connect to a TV, and functions like HD rumble, IR Motion Camera and Joy-Con motion sensors are not available using the device alone. Check that games can be played in handheld mode to play them on this console.

The Joy-Con controllers can be used together or separately. Each has HD rumble and can sense shape, movement and distance to add another level to your gaming experience. You can also get traditional controllers like the Nintendo Switch Pro controller if you prefer.

There are plenty of Nintendo Switch accessories to add to your experience. Find steering wheels for your Joy-Cons to add to your driving experience, bags and cases to protect your Switch on-the-go, and extra convenient chargers.
