About this product
With an extra-wide 42cm cutting width, this Spear and Jackson mower has been designed especially for larger gardens. Supplied with two powerful 40V 4.0ah batteries, and a fast one-hour charger, you can use one battery whilst the other charges. And, being cordless, you can keep your lawn neat and tidy without the risk of cutting the cable.
The comb on the side of the mower brushes grass into the blades to ensure you can cut right up to the edge of your lawn, reducing the amount of trimming required.
Easy cut height adjustment means you can quickly change the cutting height to suit your lawn. There are 6 cutting heights on this mower, with a cut height range from 2.2cm to 7.2cm.
A built-in rear roller helps you achieve a precise, professional striped finish on your lawn. The mower has a 40L grass collection bag, and a mulching feature that cuts out the need to empty the grass box, leaving a fine mulch on the lawn.
The soft grip, ergonomic power handle offers improved comfort and grip. For extra peace of mind Spear & Jackson offer a 3-year guarantee on all Garden Power products.

Makes life easier
Great lawnmower. So light and easy to use.
Easy job, 65 or over
Easy to use, good features, saved time & effort.
I have only used the lawn owner once but compared to the petrol I found it easier to move around as we have steps going down to our garden. The height adjustment is good, the performance was good but the collection box should have been bigger. I have not used the mulching facility yet and storage with the handles is lot better than with the petrol mower. So overall a good first experience and better than what I was expecting.

Great cordless mower
My husband loves this mower, so much easier than a corded one and the battery hasn't needed to be charged yet after 3 cuts. You also get a spare battery so you don't need to worry if it runs out. Only down side is it doesn't give stripes which it says it does in write up

Disappointed
Purchased this after my nearly 10 year old cordless mower was showing its age. This time I thought I would buy a bigger branded/make. However left disappointed. Build quality and materials really average, seems flimsy compared with my previous mower, which was from a well known German Supermarket here in the UK! Effectively this new machine, made in China, is probably and in all honesty worth around £150, these rest you are paying for the Spear and Jackson name. Does the job, but overall not worth the money for the price paid. I suggest looking elsewhere.

Very happy with my new purchase
I used it for the 2nd time today. This is the first time I have had a battery-operated lawnmower. It is fairly light to manoeuvre. Good that it comes with 2 batteries and charger, although haven’t used much of the charge on the first battery, which is really good. Cuts well in long grass on high setting, then reduce to a lower setting to get the level of grass you want to end up with for your lawn. I used the mulching option today, and found it to be a good fine mulch. Overall, very happy with my new purchase. Bought it because of the name Spear & Jackson, a company with a great pedigree.

Impressed
Bought a couple of weeks ago and used twice now on a large lawn area. Lawn mower was easy to assemble and charge the two batteries. One battery mowed the entire area with enough charge to do about a quarter of the grass next time. Handy having the second battery to complete the job. Also cuts to the edge.

Great
First cordless I’ve owned and pleased with cut. Build quality good. Little heavier than expected but no bad thing. Good to have 2 batteries and mulching and/or striping ability.

Excellent lawn mower.
Battery is excellent, we have a large lawn, it did the whole lawn. There are 2 batteries and we didn’t have to use the second one. We adjusted it for a very close cut which we haven’t been able to do with previous mowers. Everything good, no problems.

Hello Robs,
The supplier has advised the following for the Spear & Jackson 42cm Cordless Rotary Lawnmower - 40V:
"The mower is suitable for large gardens and can handle a slightly uneven or bumpy lawn. However, deep holes, mole hills, exposed roots, or rocks could be a hazard as the blade may hit them.
If the grass is long, start by using the mower on a higher cutting height, and cut it down in stages for best results."
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hi there.
I can advise that you may purchase replacement batteries for the Spear & Jackson 42cm Cordless Rotary Lawnmower - 40V and the specific part number is:
40LB4023-C Spear & Jackson 40v 4.0Ah Li-Ion Battery for S4042X2CR.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hello there,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Spear & Jackson 42cm Cordless Rotary Lawnmower - 40V: This mower is a cordless mower and can only be operated via either of the 2 supplied batteries. It can not be operated by the mains. By having 2 batteries, one battery can be used in the mower whilst the other is charged in the fast charger provided, therefore there shouldn’t be any risk of running out of charge when cutting your lawn.
Thank you for using Q&A.

Hello Rob,
The supplier has advised the following for the Spear & Jackson 42cm Cordless Rotary Lawnmower - 40V:
“ This model is a push mower without power driven wheels. Cordless mowers are considerably lighter than petrol mowers and so the need for power driven wheels is reduced when using cordless lawnmowers. Power driven wheels on a cordless mower will also drain the battery quicker, reducing the cutting time, so is not required. ”
Thanks for using Q&A.
I'm sorry I don't know. The one I have I find is light enough. I do hope you find what you need
Hello Marie,
The supplier has advised the following for the Spear & Jackson 42cm Cordless Rotary Lawnmower - 40V:
"The lowest height the handle can be set at is approximately 95cm. There are 2 handle mounting positions and 3 angles. Giving 6 different heights."
Thank you for using Q&A.
