This ground spike offered a sturdy fix for our rotary washing line. Concreted in but, depending on soil, may have been sufficient without. Excellent design features such as the fitting to protect the spike when hammering into ground. And series of inner tubes with varying diameters which should allow a snug fit for any washing line pole. All for a very reasonable price!

Terrible fit
Shame that the plastic collars, provided to cope with different pole diameters, were so poor in fit the dryer will not stay vertical, leaning all the time

Easy to fit wobble eliminator.
Excellent idea as my washing line is a bit wobbly, these inserts have done the job, my line is straight & wobble free now. I didn’t need the metal spike as one came with the washing line I’d brought from Argos this week too. So maybe selling the set of plastic inserts without the metal spike would be a good idea as an option. They seem pretty solid but time will tell on that. The kit comes with several inserts so it will fit most washing lines easily. The kit was easy to fit.

Not very strong adaptors
I should have trusted the reviews a bit more. My rotary line pole uses the smallest adaptor but as others have said it wobbles around terribly. The tubes are fairly soft plastic so are not very supportive.

Perfect for what we needed
We have now installed this item into our garden and have found it works exactly as intended. We installed it into the ground and used post-concrete to secure it into the ground before burying it. We used the installation cap to install the item and it also came with a cap to cover the post when it is not in use, however we personally prefer to use the installation when we are not using the post.

For most gardens with firm soil, the spike alone is usually fine.
If your rotary airer wobbles, or if the ground is loose, adding post mix will make it completely stable.

No it will not, if it can accommodate a 50mm pole and spec says it is 5.5cm it obviously wont fit into a 40mm hole in concrete

Apologies, no, you can only do this from big to small, not the other way around. You would need to change the ground spike to a 45mm one.

I fixed mine in with concrete as it kept tilting in grass. It's quite chunky on the smaller size lines and you will have to use the all the adjusters.
