Good overall value
First rate delivery, and well packaged, simple substantial brackets - measured twice and drilled holes. Brackets all lined up and with help it was easy to attach the unit. Looks good and works well, could be improved by a water repellent fabric.

Pleased with product
Bought last month. Delivered well ahead of time advised. Very robust. Easy to install by 2 adults. Slight problem with levelling once erected. Our fault as we did not read instructions clearly! Called the company and they were extremely helpful in talking us through what we had to do. It dies have an inbuilt spirit level bubble to help you with this. Excellent customer service and a great product.

Hello Dickens,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Greenhurst Ascot Garden Awning - 3.5m: Please see below:
''FITTING:
• Greenhurst Awnings come in 3 standard sizes 2.5m wide x 2m max extension, 3m wide x 2m max extension, 3.5m wide x 2.5m max extension – this is the overall width of the complete frame – canvas width approx.15cm less.
• Fitting is achieved by firstly fixing the 2 (or 3) wall brackets to the wall then locating the awning back bar into the brackets and securing with 2 retaining bolts (full fitting instructions supplied)
• An average suggested fitting height is approx. 8’6” (260cm) above ground level, however this is dependent upon personal preference, the space available, and the desired pitch / angle of depression.
• The desired pitch / angle of depression can be set anywhere between horizontal and 40° – this is achieved by loosening the 2 bolts on each arm, adjusting the stopper bolt to the desired angle, and re-tightening the bolt (shown in instruction sheet)
• The maximum drop from the top of the awning to the frill at the front is approximately 1.3m for the 2.5m & 3m awnings and 1.6m for the 3.5m awning.
• Brackets can be mounted at any sensible distance apart, as the awning back bar simply slides into the jaws of the brackets.
• The awning back bar is 35mm in diameter.
• Only standard brackets and expanding masonry fixings are available from Greenhurst – alternative types of bracket and / or fixings can be sourced separately by customers.
• 2 brackets are supplied with 2.5m / 3m awnings and 3 with 3.5m – additional brackets are available from Greenhurst, please call for details.
FITTING TO BUNGALOW / CONFINED SPACE:
• The bracket “footprint” is 4 ½” x 1 ½” (110mm x 40mm)
• Overall when retracted the end section is 8” x 8” (203mm x 203mm)
• As it is a DIY product, customers must always themselves ensure the method / location for fixing is adequate – weights are 20kg / 22kg / 24kg approx. A spreader plate / back runner etc can be fitted to the wall to help weight distribution.
OPERATION:
• The winder is always on the left-hand side facing (and cannot be moved to right side)
• The arms do not fully straighten, they are designed to stay at an angle for added strength.
• Side curtains and spare fabric are NOT available.
• If the fabric appears to be “underneath” the roller instead of rolled over the top – extend
the awning fully and keep winding in the same direction – fabric will re-roll over the roller.
• Levelling is done via the 2 side adjusting bolts and stopper bolt.
• If fabric rolls back unevenly, this may be resolved by a few opening / closings, however the usual causes are movement of one of the fixed arm brackets (customer may be able to re-align and tighten), incorrect seam tension on fabric or unequal tension in the arms
(both are faults which cannot be rectified by the customer)
• Full technical helpline available on 01562 753040
Care and general maintenance:
• Joints can be lubricated with oil / WD40 etc if squeaking – best way to lubricate winding mechanism is to take awning down from brackets – invert, and let lubricant run down winder stem.
• Normal stains / soiling should be removed as soon as possible using mild detergent and a stiff brush – if a proprietary fabric cleaner is used it should be compatible with manmade fibres / polyester.
• Whilst the awning can be left up all year, we suggest to prolong its life and appearance it is removed from the brackets and stored in its original packaging throughout the winter months or protected using an appropriate awning cover.
• Alternatively, you can purchase a cover for it ring 01562 753040 for details.
• Inevitable weathering will occur, particularly to the exposed fringe, if left out in prolonged inclement winter conditions
• As Greenhurst implement a constant programme of updating and improvement, models are periodically enhanced, and it is therefore essential that the specific model number is
quoted in addition to colour and size.''

Hi Barnowls
Having checked with the supplier for you I can let you know the brackets should be fitted 260cm above ground level.
They suggest that at least two courses of bricks are above the bracket if fitting to a bungalow.
Thanks for using Q & A
Hello Sandy,
I have been advised that it is best to fit this product to a brick wall for the appropriate support and weight management for the awning.
I hope this helps
Thanks for using Q&A
Hi Hokeykokey2000
The awning has an alterable pitch / angle of depression, the desired pitch / angle of depression can be set between horizontal and 80 degrees: this is achieved by loosening two bolts on each arm, adjusting the stopper bolt to the desired angle and re-tightening the bolt, this adjustment will then cause the height of the awning to vary.
Hope this helps. Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi Chez,
I could not advise if it was easy to use for your elderly parents to open and close the awning it is a wind up handle so it would depend on how easy they would find this to use.
Hope this helps.
