I regret buying this. First game I tried and really wanted to play was Mega Drive Virtua Racer. I couldn't get it to play despite giving the cart a good clean. Took it round to my friend and it played ok on his Retron 5. Thought my Retron 5 was faulty but no....I have since found out they have updated the newer Retron 5 and it can no longer play Virtua Racer! Who updates their product and makes it worse?! It makes a mockery of the 'Highest Cartridge Compatibility' label emblazoned on the box. As another reviewer has said, the build quality is pretty poor with the plastic akin to a cheap child's toy. The slots grip the cartridges extremely tightly too and I was worried I might damage my cartridges, or the slot when removing them. I can't recommend the Retron 5 as it should be so much better for the price.

Very cheap materials and build quality.
Purchased this for my old favourites but it ruined the experience, extremely cheap materials and build quality, the controllers feel like one of those baby toys which are designed not to work, ruined the nostalgia, for £180 I would definitely avoid, there are much cheaper options available with much better quality.

One Retro console to rule them all!
If I had any doubts about this before buying, I certainly had none afterwards. This console accepts games for the Gameboy (Original, Color and Advance), the Famicom, NES, SNES and MegaDrive, you can also use an adapter for Game Gear and Master System games. You can use original or new controllers for NES, SNES and Sega, a SNES-compatible controller is supplied that works with everything anyway. Also included is a wireless controller, I've not used that to be honest as I prefer the included SNES one. Every cartridge I've played 'just works', I've got a selection from each supported system. Another feature is that you can use Game Genie cheats, you can just download them to an SD card and pop it into the back of the console. You can also load/save any game at any time which is great. If you're looking for a single console that connects directly to modern TVs without adapters and converters, that can play all your old games then seriously consider this console. I'm really happy with mine.

Thanks for using Q&A
Hello Dil,
The supplier has advised the following for the RetroN5 Retro All-in-1 Gaming Console:
"The RetroN 5 does not play the Game Gear natively but Hyperkin does sell an adapter that will allow the system to play Game Gear, Master System, and the Master System card."
Thank you for using Q&A.
Not out of the box. However, there is an additional adapter you can buy to enable you to play Gamegear and Master System games on the Retron 5. Can be hard to come by but you can import for around 50 pounds
