The Argos Home Aspley Trundle Day Bed gives you flexible seating and sleeping space that adapts to everyday life and surprise sleepovers. It's designed to work as a sofa during the day, then converts to a single bed at night. A pull-out trundle frame underneath provides instant guest sleeping space without needing a spare room. You can raise the trundle to match the main bed height for a double or twin arrangement. The solid wood design provides reliable support for daily use, and natural wooden slats allow airflow for comfort.
The trundle slides out smoothly and tucks away when not needed, so you're not wasting floor space. It's practical for compact bedrooms, studios or guest rooms where space needs to work harder. Avoid
Ordered a few weeks ago and the delivery was seamless, well organised, and great communication with a friendly and helpful delivery team. It all went a bit downhill from there. The frame was dirty and covered in dust in addition to numerous nicks and scrapes in the wood; I lost count of how many, but all have been photographed for when I can eventually speak to a human being after the bank holiday weekend. As this replaces a double bed that has now gone, and I have friends visiting this week, I had no choice but to put it together, which was a very difficult job indeed. Some of the pre-drilled holes didn't line up, and I had to shave bits off the dowelling to line up the pieces and some of the mattress slats had large cracks in them. The quality of the pre-drilled holes was awful in some instances, with recesses far bigger than necessary and with jagged, unsightly edges. The worst feature is the locking pins for when you pull the section of the bed out to make it a double. These are extremely difficult to put in (failure to do so prevents the bed's use as a double) and will make what should be a quick transition into a difficult, lengthy one while you fiddle around trying to lift and wiggle the sections into alignment to secure the pin. Additionally, there were no pre-drilled holes for when the locking chains are at rest, as illustrated in the instructions. Such a shame, Habitat products are usually of far better quality, and I don't think this bed will wear well, given how frequently it has been damaged in storage/transport

I’m really happy with the Argos Home Aspley Trundle Day Bed (Oak Effect). The quality is genuinely really good, it feels sturdy and well-made, and once built it doesn’t wobble or feel flimsy at all. Assembly was also straightforward with clear parts and an easy process overall. It took around 2 hours as already mentioned on guide. Each bed comes with 11 slats per bed, and I do think it should be more for better support and peace of mind (especially depending on who’s using it). Delivery was a great experience too, the delivery men were kind enough to carry it upstairs, which I really appreciated. Overall, a great day bed/trundle for the price, solid and attractive, with just a small improvement needed on the slats.

Really useful product
Looks really smart. Great as a day bed/sofa and to allow for guests. Good value too. It did take a while to build a some of the instructions weren’t very clear but we got there.

Great looking bed
This trundle bed is very well made and was easy to put together with a little help. Bought mattresses separately as this worked out cheaper. Looks great and the Grandkids love it.

Lovely day bed
Although the bed is lovely, I only gave 3 stars as it took 3hrs to build. Most parts had no numbers! Also, theres a scratch as per the photo attached. Im not returning it as I cant go through building another one up. Delivery was on day/time.

Just the job
Easy enough to put together but much quicker if there is 2. Instructions are not the best but managed OK - took about 2 hours. Colour not oak - more a pine colour but only needed for spare room so happy with purchase.

Generally I'm happy with the day bed, went with the no mattress option as the other listing didn't say what quality the mattresses were that came with it. The listing also didn't give a recommendation for mattress depth if buying your own. I bought single Emma mattresses and they fit fine but the one that is meant to go underneath is too tall and lifts the feet of the bed off the floor. It was a challenge to put together. Took 2 of us 4 hours, and we managed to strip 2 of the bolts as they are made of quite soft metal. Be VERY careful with making sure every part is the right way up as we had to do a couple of bits twice due to the instructions being a bit vague. Now it's together it's very solid and easy to put up the trundle. Hope that helps you make a decision, and maybe Habitat can add more mattress info to the listing.

As far as our information shows, this could be used with a double topper.
Please note that the 2 mattresses do have a slight gap between them due to the side rail (see images 4/9 and 6/9).

After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Aspley Trundle Day Bed - Oak Effect: ''We recommend that both mattresses be 15 cm thick so that when placed side by side, there are no height differences. However, if you are only using the top part, it is not a problem if it is taller.''
