About this product
Engine light's glowing and you've no idea what's triggered it. This Streetwize fault code reader plugs into your car's diagnostic port and reads the ELM codes that'll tell you what's going on. Works with petrol vehicles from 1996 and diesel from 2004 onwards, as long as they're OBD II compliant including CAN systems. It checks the malfunction indicator lamp and reviews emission monitor readiness, so you know what's being flagged. Draws power straight from the port so no batteries to keep charged, and it's small enough to live in the glovebox for whenever you need it.
Helps you understand fault codes before deciding whether to sort it yourself or book a garage appointment. Universal OBD II connection fits most modern cars and vans on UK roads. Powered through the diagnostic port without separate charging or battery changes. Straightforward to use, just plug in and read what the codes mean. Compact enough to keep in the car permanently so it's there when a warning appears.

Seems ok
Seems to be ok for basics. Easy enough to use. Small and easy to carry or store. Told us what the fault was. Only a relatively cheap gadget, handy to have to diagnose before a trip to the garage is necessary.

Ease of use
Our car was showing a fault on the dash but with the help of this reader we were able to order the part and fix the fault ourselves saving us a lot of time and money the garage would have charged us

Simplicity
Very easy to use and understand. You still need to google what the codes mean though

Hello Jo,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Streetwize OBDII Vehicle Fault Code Reader: '' They work with all vehicles made since 1996, so yes.
There may be some specific spec on a mini though such as ABS and air bag codes that only specialised readers will pick up.''
Thank you for using Q and A.
Hello Rary,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Streetwize OBDII Vehicle Fault Code Reader: ''On many diesel vehicles, once the DPF/particle filter additive tank is refilled, the fault code can be cleared, but usually not automatically.
Most cars with an additive system (common on Peugeot, Citroën, Ford, Volvo, Mazda etc. using Eolys fluid) require two things after refill:
Refill the additive fluid
Reset/reinitialize the additive counter with a diagnostic tool
The ECU tracks how much additive it thinks has been used. Simply topping up the fluid often will not remove the warning because the ECU still believes the tank is empty.
Typical process:
Refill additive fluid
Use OBD diagnostic software to:
reset additive level counter
declare additive reservoir refilled
clear stored fault codes
If you only clear the code without resetting the additive counter, the warning usually returns immediately or after a short drive.
Common fault wording:
“Particle Filter Additive Level Too Low”
“DPF Additive Minimum Level”
“Eolys Low”
“Additive System Fault”
Some basic OBD readers cannot perform the reset — you often need a more advanced tool with manufacturer functions (Diagbox, Lexia, Autel, Launch, Delphi etc.).
If you tell me:
the car make/model/year
and the exact fault code (example P1435, P2585 etc.)
I can tell you exactly whether the refill alone is enough or whether a reset procedure is required.''
Thank you for using Q and A.
Hello Lee,
Streetwize OBDII Vehicle Fault Code Reader:
These devices are strictly diagnostic scanners designed to read and clear engine fault codes (DTCs), check emissions readiness, and view live engine data.
Thanks for using Q and A.
Hello Tom.
I can advise the following for the Streetwize OBDII Vehicle Fault Code Reader:
Providing it has a OBDII socket, this can be used on a motorcycle.
Thank you for using Q&A
Hello Neil,
The supplier has advised the following for the Streetwize OBDII Vehicle Fault Code Reader:
"This will not clear the inspection lights it will only clear engine fault codes"
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hello Antoni,
I can advise the following for the Streetwize OBDII Vehicle Fault Code Reader:
This will read codes that are compatible with OBDII and can clear some but it will not fix the fault that the code is referring too.
Thanks for using Q & A.
Hello Bob,
The supplier has advised the following for the Streetwize OBDII Vehicle Fault Code Reader:
Mk7 Transits do have OBD-II, so a basic reader like SWOBD will usually plug in and read/clear engine fault codes.
It should work for:
- Engine warning light (MIL)
- Generic fault codes (P-codes)
- Emissions readiness
- Basic live data (depending on ECU)
Important - Please be aware that a cheap/basic reader like SWOBD only reads generic engine data. It usually won't access Ford-specific modules, such as ANS, Airbag, BCM/Body electronics, Injector coding/advanced diagnostics. For those things, people typically use a Ford-specific tool like FORScan + proper adapter.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hello Sue,
I can advise the Streetwize OBDII Vehicle Fault Code Reader is compatible with petrol vehicles from 1996 and diesel vehicles from 2004. (Both of which need to be OBD II compliant, including CAN).
Thanks for using Q & A.
Hello there,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Streetwize OBDII Vehicle Fault Code Reader: As this warning is specific for this car the product unfortunately will not clear it.
Thank you for using Q&A.
Hey John,
I can advise that this will temporarily remove warning lights.
Thanks for using Q&A.
