About this product
The Argos Home Maine Bookcase gives you practical storage for books, display pieces, and everyday items in a slim, upright design. It's a straightforward tall unit that fits neatly against walls without eating into floor space. The wood effect finish with PVC coating protects against marks and wipes clean after dusting. Five shelves in total provide flexible storage, one fixed shelf gives structural strength, and four adjustable shelves let you space things to suit what you're storing. The black finish works with most room schemes and keeps things neutral.
The slim depth maximises space in compact rooms or narrow alcoves where deeper bookcases won't fit. Adjustable shelves move to accommodate taller books or smaller paperbacks, decorative items, or storage baskets. Wall-mounting fixings included for stability, especially important in homes with children. Self-assembly required, instructions and all fixings provided, two people recommended for easier handling. Manufacturer's one year guarantee included.

Affordable, easy to assemble bookcase with adjustable shelves, good finish and stability. Some report quality issues with back panels and chipboard material. Ideal for books, DVDs, and display items.

Looks great and a lovely colour
I bought this 2 weeks ago review as follows: well packaged and arrived on time, all contents accounted for and good quality materials. Very pleased with the assembled bookcase and shelves easily adjusted to the size I needed. I needed a narrow bookcase (20 cms) for a smaller room and all paperbacks and DVD's easily fitted. The advice I would give about assembly, however is not to try and use two rows of nails on the middle line of the backing (likely to split through to the other side. I used glue and duct tape after making this mistake.

Good product, good value.
Great service, arrived as promised. Easy to assemble, with better instructions than a lot of flat-pack furniture. More robust than I thought it would be, so good value.

Perfect bookcase
I’ve been looking for a shallow bookcase like this for a long time. Perfect for my needs with plenty of shelf space with adjustable heights. Easy to assemble and stable when in place. Simple and Matt finish that fit with my decor.

THIS WAS ASSEMBLED BY MY NEIGHBOUR AS I HAVE ARTHRITIC WRISTS. THERE WAS NO BOTHER AND IT LOOKS LOVELY AND HOLDS ALL MY DVDs

Not great
Shelves not very deep. Awful back panels stuck together with brown tape and chips easily. Should’ve bought the solid wood charity shop one.

Spend a little more and get something better
But a cheap bookcase - you get a cheap bookcase - and that's what I got. Not great - looks cheap, feels cheap. will do the job for a short time and then will need to be replaces. The photo is photoshopped as you see all the holes down the side on the inside - and if you are not super careful with the mallet/ hammer the nails smash the board on the other side. also - terrible directions on the build.
