Customers Say
The Philips TV offers great picture quality and value for money, but users report slow menu navigation and a frustrating remote control experience. Overall, it’s a decent budget option with some usability issues.

Great picture and sound
We bought this TV at the end of April. Set up was easy and the picture and sound are great. We haven't felt the need to get a separate sound bar. Gaming with our PS5 is good - no noticeable lag. We are overall very happy with the purchase for the price. However, using the menu and scrolling through apps is very slow - I've not known a TV to be this slow with that function. Typing anything into the search bar takes an age. There is also no way of clearing the cache on preloaded apps, including all the usual like Netflix and Disney+, so if the app has an issue you have to reset the TV and relog into everything. This has happened to us twice with the Disney+ app and makes everything very drawn out. But again, for the price, it's been great.

I bought this equipment 5 months ago. It serves me well as a computer screen and for television programmes.

Sound quality is not great
Lovely tv. Great picture, but sound could be better. Voices sound tinney, which is disappointing. None of the settings fix that. Had to add a soundbar for better quality sound.

PHILIPS - 50PUS7009/12 50" Smart 4K Ultra
Very good value tv and a lot of equipment for the price. Only downside is the awful remote control which is awkward to use and badly designed, fire the designer!

The tv is OK at the moment as it has been replaced once but the removal is the worst remote I have had

Good Picture and Sound, Functionality Poor
I purchased this item to replace a Samsung 48'. My first impression was it looks good, light and easy to handle to position on the existing wall mount. The clear one page quick start guide was perfect, but the overkill of warranty and safety standards etc etc, seemed pointless as no-one reads them, the information should be on-line as they will just gather dust somewhere. The set up by was fairly simple. So I have now been using for a week, the good bits. Picture Quality is very clear and the modes were easy to navigate to, the sound is reasonable, but I have now paired it with a Philips 6000 series soundbar, which was easy to do and now the sound is very good. Now the very bad/infuriating bits. The remote/TV is not responsive enough in fact it very slow to do anything and it takes a second or so for the sound to catch up. There are the usual Netflix, Prime , YouTube, Disney and two other that don't seem to work, the home button only blanks the screen so I have no idea what that does The guide for other channels gives you the option to search, so the problem here is that a search of dramas throughs up all the dramas on the various channel including 5 and ITVx so once you have log in to the required app for the programme you can then get to the home page of the app to find your already saved favourites (what a faff). There is no way of viewing the apps as a stand alone menu (as yet). Also no idea how to get iTunes onto the TV. The remote does not have a key pad so you can't jump from channel to channel by number, you have to go to the guide and painstakingly scroll down, I mean who produces a remote with no keypad function and no hard copy remote control guide notes. I fully regret buying this TV as the overall functionality/useability is poor to say the least, the remote is terrible. I can only give 2 stars because of the functionality, I should have kept my Samsung and sent this back, my advice to other is don't purchase this even though it was a great price, the hassle is not worth it.
