I bought this just before Christmas and it's just what I needed for my picture excellent quality

Good quality for the price paid. A nice way to display pictures. Click and collect at Argos is easy and hassle free, the girl at the counter though could do with putting her training into practice, I always wonder how they perform in their interviews to get the job!!! The catalogue is much missed.

I can advise that a standard, modern Schwartz spice container has a diameter of 4.3cm. This picture rail is 8cm deep, including the front and back lip. Therefore I think it would be suitable.

It could be painted if using the correct paint as it's not lacquered, however in doing so this would void the warranty as it's classed as a modification.

The Jak 120cm Picture Rail - Black is only 8cm deep so if hung upside down we would not be able to guarantee safety as it depends on what the shelf is used for. Fixings shouldn't be a problem and the maximum weight to be supported would still be 3Kg.
