The supplier has advised the following for the Silentnight Safe Nights Anti Allergy Duvet & Pillow -Cot Bed:
"All our Anti-Allergy range uses Aegis fibres. Tests performed by independent laboratories confirm that ægis is a unique technology for controlling the development of dustmites by controlling the fungus that is essential for turning skin cells into digestible food for the dustmite. Of course, ægis is able to control bacteria too, maintaining lasting freshness in your bedding goods.
The micro-organisms are attracted by the nanocoating. Once they come in contact with this nanocoating, the cell membrane is punctured, as if by a sword. In this way, micro-organisms are deactivated. Because the nano-coating is permanently fixed on the fibre, ægis exhibits a durable activity without migration to the environment. In this way, a safe and optimal active hygiene is guaranteed in time, even after frequent washing. It is not recommended to use high temperatures during the wash as this can break down the nano-coating."
