About this product
The Argos Home Atlas Metal Guest Bed gives you a practical solution when friends or family need to stay over. It's a single bed with a second pull-out bed tucked underneath, so you've got sleeping space for two without filling a spare room with furniture. The silver tubular metal frame keeps things sturdy and supports users up to 110kg. Castors fitted to the lower bed make it easy to roll out when needed and slide back under when guests leave. Both beds come with metal slats for mattress support, and two 323-spring mattresses are included.
The medium-feel mattresses provide comfortable support and need regular flipping to maintain their shape over time. The metal frame stands up to occasional use and wipes clean easily. The single bed format works well in compact guest rooms or multipurpose spaces where you need flexibility. Self-assembly required with two people recommended, and all fixings are provided. Part of the Atlas collection, designed for users aged 13 and above. Comes with a two-year manufacturer's guarantee.

Trundle mental bed
I purchased these types of beds a few years ago so thought I would order a second one for my younger boy. The first ones I had ordered are great quality and the mattress where amazing , Im not to sure if they have changed the manufacturer of the new bed but the quality of the frame and the mattress are not great the mattresses are very thin.

No it is not designed for the mattresses to be turned sideways across the two beds to make a bigger one.
The slats are not flush with the top edges of the bed and, also, there is the risk that they could work themselves apart as there's no design feature or structural element on the bed, e.g. brackets or hooks, that would keep them together. Trying to use it this way would be at the user's own risk and could invalidate the item's warranty as it's not designed to be used this way.

There is a Home Atlas Single Metal Bed Frame - Black under item number 2722465, however this is just a single bed.

“ This bed is not designed for children's beds, and the gaps do not meet the testing standards of BS8509 for children's beds.
It just passed the adult bed test EN 1725 ”
