Excellent value for money
I purchased this to keep an eye on an elderly relative who lives 15 miles away. It was easy to set up and using the share option on the app you can view it anytime and anywhere as long as you have internet/WiFi. It has a great picture, great sound and with a memory card it records continuously and you can look back over previous days.. With no subscription charges this has already proved invaluable.

Good features, suitably priced
Bought this about a month ago to hold a bit of security on my house after strange events had happened. Initially was torn between this and a double pack of the C200s, but picked up two of these instead. I've been pleasantly surprised at how easy they were to set up (once I disconnected my phone's VPN) and think that it has been ample for the monitoring of my front and back doors. The range seems to be further than what I would typically want, but this is managed quite easily with the in-app settings. Resolution on output seems to be the main varying factor among cameras, but I have not quite gotten a chance to see any benefits from the higher resolution due to the visibility of the unit acting as a deterrent. It's able to detect people, cars, pets, movement and certain sounds. I would and have since bought a C230.

Excellent product
When i bouth this camera, I honestly didn't expect so much from it. But I must say it was a real bargain. Nice video qualities, excellent night mode.

Very good product especially for the price
Bought this a while ago. Very good for night vision, auto detection following moving targets, range of movement, smart features via the app plus some but limited integration with Google Home app. Resolution is great, no problem to connect to WiFi and is easy to switch between if you have more than one camera. I added an SD card to review alerts over the last few days. Great

Great internal cctv camera
Wanted an internal cctv camera for a while and after researching different ones this Tapo C220 fitted the bill best. It looks good and , using the app, was very easy to set up. It can also be wall mounted using the provided bracket if required, and just needed a micro SD card installing and formatting. Again this was done easily in the app. Additionally, the app is filled with loads of features making it customisable to your own requirements. Especially useful is the AI enhance which allows it to differentiate between people and animals, and it can even listen gir events such as dog bark and glass breaking, sending notifications to your phone if required. Overall a very good item at a very good price.

Great device co the price
Device is great for the price and connects really easily during setup. Can remote access no problem and is clear day and night. Can zoom in, use the cloud based options built in, or my own. I can even setup an SD card if I want.

Hi,
It is generally not recommended to use an extension cable to power the camera, as this may affect its performance. Please consider the following points:
1. The material and length of the extension cable may cause the voltage reaching the Tapo camera to be lower than the voltage it requires to operate, resulting in some unusual behavior, such as the camera automatically restarting at night or getting stuck when panning and tilting.
2. Using extension cords outdoors may also increase the risk of lightning damage, which may void your product's warranty.
3. If you must use an extension cord, please consider a cable with 22 AWG or thicker wire to minimize voltage drops and ensure your camera receives adequate power. Additionally, ensure the cable is properly waterproofed and lightning-protected.
For optimal performance, we recommend using the original power adapter and cord that came with the Tapo camera.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi,
The data consumption for watching live video or uploadingclips to the cloud server depends on the camera resolutionand the duration of use. On average, the upload bandwidth for each camera should not exceed 5 Mbps. Apart from streaming video, camera's other activities like communication with the IOT cloud take up a little data.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi,
The Tapo C220 requires an SD card or a Tapo Care subscription for recording.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi,
On Recording Schedule page to set recording schedule for "Don't Record", "Detection Recording", and "Continuous Recording".
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi,
The Tapo C220 needs to stay plugged in. It draws power from the power adapter, so it can stay on all week as long as it’s connected to an outlet. The “wireless” part only means the camera connects to your Wi‑Fi (2.4 GHz).
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi,
For camera live view, once the camera is set up in the Tapo app and connected to the internet, you can watch it for free (no extra cost).
For camera playback, there are two recording types:
1. Tapo Care Cloud Recordings: Each Tapo Camera offers a one-time 30-day free trial of Tapo Care (starts when enabled in the app), which provides 30-day cloud video history and advanced features. After the trial, a Tapo Care subscription is required for 7- or 30-day cloud-stored detection recordings. More details about Tapo Care, visit: https://www.tp-link.com/tapocare/...
2. SD Card Recordings: An SD card is needed to access continuous or motion-triggered recordings (based on your Recording Schedule). To check which SD card is compatible with your camera, visit: https://www.tapo.com/faq/111/...
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi,
You can refer to this SD card compatibility list: https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/3048/...
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hi,
The Tapo C220's power source is a 9V DC power adapter. If you purchased it in the UK, then it should be a UK standard product.
Thanks for using Q&A.
Hello Jonnie,
After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Tapo C220 2K 4MP Pan/Tilt Wi-Fi AI Home Security Camera: ''The Tapo C220 is equipped with a built-in microphone and speaker that supports two-way audio with noise cancellation. This means the camera can capture audio clearly while reducing background noise, which helps ensure better sound quality for both recording and real-time communication. The noise cancellation feature is particularly useful for minimizing unwanted ambient sounds and improving overall audio clarity.
Additionally, the camera features advanced AI detection capabilities including baby crying detection, cat meows detection, dog barks detection, and glass break detection, which demonstrates its ability to accurately capture and identify various sound patterns, further confirming its sound recording capabilities.''
Thank you for using Q and A.
Hi Milan,
Tapo C220 2K 4MP Pan/Tilt Wi-Fi AI Home Security Camera 215/3852
The supplier has advised:
So far, Tapo WiFi smart devices support 2.4GHz WiFi in IEEE 802.11b/g/n. 5GHz WiFi is not supported. As long as your router/RE/PLC supports a 2.4GHz network, the tapo camera can work with it.
