Easy set up, hours of fun for an 8 year old.
I brought this on the 17th November 2025 as a birthday gift to my 8 year old. Whilst he has played simple games on a phone including things like FIFA he has never used a laptop, gaming console etc. we set it up quite quickly and he picked it up rally fast and is now playing it daily. Having not had a console myself for years ( now 37 ) I was quite impressed by the switch 2 especially the smoothness of play, the screen, the docking system etc. great buy that will give hours of fun. Its really strong and well built especially the magnetic controllers. Great build quality.

You can slot your 2 Joycons into the Grip if you want to make them into one larger 2 handed controller similar to a Nintendo pro controller or an x box controller.
So it is OK , you only need one Grip.
