Does The Job - But Only Just!
This TV was purchase as a replacement for a Samsung 32" TV that was 16 years old. I expected this much newer TV to be superior. However, that wasn't the case (ignoring features that weren't available on the old TV). Screen brightness is just about adequate, requiring brightness, contrast and shadow detail at maximum during daytime. Sound quality was an immediate disappointment - no bass and very 'boxy'. So I purchased a soundbar - this worked well with connection through HDMI using eARC. There's no need to go for an expensive soundbar - just about anything will be an improvement. Do bear in mind the TV sits on very short legs, so a soundbar in front of the TV would likely block some of the screen. I purchased one that splits in two, providing a speaker at each end of the TV. There isn't an audio jack on the TV, so I couldn't connect my jack connected wireless headphones. General operation is slow, often taking seconds to respond to a button on the remote - the operating system seems underpowered, making apps such as the Internet browser very slow. The remote has a curved back, making it difficult to press buttons when the remote is on a flat surface as the remote will then rotate. An unexpected bonus was the Samsung TV channel, providing free to view older TV programmes and lesser known films. Brightness aside, the picture quality is good and the receiver sensitivity better than my old TV. Although this is a smart TV it doesn't support recording to external storage, though it does support playback (I haven't tested this). The TV is close to being good, but really needs better speakers and faster operation.

The TV turns on HD automatically. Just use an HDMI cable and set your device (Sky box, Freeview HD, console, etc.) to output 720p, 1080i, or 1080p. If it’s not showing HD, change the resolution setting on the device because the TV depends on the source’s output.
