The Argos Home Elmdon Deep Ortho Double Divan Bed provides firm support for a comfortable rest. Its open coil mattress has 288 springs that spread weight evenly and provide steady support. The firm feel suits back and stomach sleepers who prefer a solid mattress. Soft quilted layers add comfort without softening the base. The damask cover has a smooth, quilted finish. This no-turn mattress only needs regular rotation to stay in good condition. The divan base on chrome feet lifts the set off the floor for easy hoovering and supports the mattress for everyday use.
The mattress depth gives you a good balance of cushioning and structure, while the base sits at a height that makes getting in and out of bed comfortable. It supports up to two hundred and three kilogrammes, so there's capacity for different sleepers. The grey finish fits with most bedroom colours. The depth should be 22cm. Mattresses aren’t perfectly flat—pillowing, quilting, and shaped edges can make the stitched sides uneven. By placing a straight pole across the top and another across the bottom, you create two completely flat reference planes. This ensures you measure the actual maximum thickness, not the lower, inconsistent edge height.
How to Measure the Depth of a Mattress.
Place one straight pole (or a long straight object) across the top surface of the mattress so that it lies flat and level.
Place a second pole underneath the mattress, directly below the top one, ensuring it is also flat and level.
Measure the vertical distance between the two poles using a tape measure.
This measurement represents the true depth of the mattress, taken from the highest point of the top surface to the lowest point of the bottom surface, not from the stitched or quilted edges.

If the label states ‘non‑turn’, the mattress is not designed to be flipped over. However, you can still rotate it so the head end becomes the foot end, which helps maintain even wear.
