"This is a tracking device so could be used on a cat collar, although this is only Bluetooth so would need to be within range if trying to locate the cat."

The Tile Mate 2022 primarily uses Bluetooth technology to connect with your phone and other devices. It does not use GSM network masts or cellular nodes for its tracking functionality.

Distance depends on the network that these generate, if there is enough "nodes" around then you can track this around the globe. This can work with both iOS and Android.
The distance from a node is up to 76 meter or 250 feet over bluetooth.

Yes. You can use the Tile Mate 2022 to track your car.
Tile uses Bluetooth technology to connect with the Tile app on your device. When a Tile is within Bluetooth range (100 feet up to 500 feet) and a connection is established, your device will update its location.
In cases that your car is not within the Bluetooth range of your mobile device, you can Enable ‘Notify When Found’ to enlist the help of the Tile Network to locate your Tile. This Tile feature works best when the Tile is not within the Bluetooth range.
If you want a replaceable battery with the longest Bluetooth range for your cars, the Tile Pro models fit in this.
