The iron is lightweight compared to others and I am pleased with the iron and its features. I only rated this 4 stars due to the short power cable. It makes ironing difficult unless stood close to a power point.

Excellent standard steam iron
This Braun Texstyle 3 iron was bought last month to replace a 15 year old Philips iron which was loosing its steam flow. The Braun is well made with positive controls. I like the scale clean activated by sliding the steam volume control to one side - much easier than a press button under the handle on many others. The steam volume is good, even though there are only 2 settings plus dry ironing. The water level is easily visible when filling and during use. I have had no problems with water droplets on, or the soleplate sticking to clothes. The main downside I find is the lead is too short at 2 metres. Surely most people iron in their kitchen with the lead plugged in at the back of a work surface, the lead then goes below the ironing board and needn to stretch along to the nose of the board. This requires between 2.5 and 3.0 metres, so why do virtually all makers supply 1.0 or 2.0 metre leads? My old Philips had a 3.5 metre lead which was very good for duvet covers and similar, if a litt;e too long at times for shirts and pillow cases. A minor point is the lack of a water beaker. The instructions show filling direct from a tap which is OK at the £24.00 Argos charged me last month, but at their current price of £50.00 this seems penny pinching. Having checked I can see you are able to iron silk with this however you would need to be careful of the temperature so as not to burn the fabric.

Hello there. The Braun SI3055BK TexStyle 3 Steam Iron requires water to be turned into steam so this would not be suitable to use dry.

There are 2 models. I was supplied with Type 1270011 which does have Auto Switch Off after 30 seconds horizontal or 8 minutes vertical. The Type 1270010 does not have Auto Off

My Braun SI3055BK did not come with a water beaker. The instructions for both models of the TexStyle 3 show filling from a tap only and do not mention any water beaker nor does the Braun packaging.
