About this product
The Akio Kingsize Wooden Platform Bed Frame gives you a calm, uncluttered sleeping space that's inspired by simple Japanese design. The solid wood build keeps it sturdy and supportive for years of use, while the natural finish lets the wood's grain show through. It's designed to hold a kingsize mattress, so there's plenty of room for two people to sleep comfortably. The base slats are built into an outer frame that keeps everything clean-lined and minimal. There's 14cm of space underneath, so you can hoover beneath it or tuck away storage boxes without any hassle.
The wooden slats provide even support across the mattress and allow airflow to keep things fresh. The siderails sit 25cm high, that's a comfortable height for getting in and out of bed each day. It's a natural wood finish that works with most bedroom styles, from contemporary to traditional. Self-assembly's needed, and it's best to have two people for putting it together, all the fixings and instructions are included. There's a one-year manufacturer's guarantee for peace of mind.

Great bed, looks amazing quality. Very chic and mid century modern. The headboard is hard to screw on and it’s not the easiest to assemble but it’s worth it.

Ideal bed frame
In general the bed frame it self after constructed is amazing sturdy and visually appealing for a room, how ever building it was a bit tricky as some of the bolt holes were not aligned properly making some parts rather frustrating how ever I believe I just unlucky with mine

Disappointing quality and construction
Hoped the previous reviews were wrong but no, genuinely this bed was awful to assemble. Tolerances are much too large in specific areas. Also, we were missing a dowel and a screw hole which we had to drill ourselves and even then it was pretty rubbish. The inner frame support plank was too long and we had to cut it to size. Since building it its been completely fine, no issues with that which is why its got 2 stars instead of the one.

I brought this a month ago and i'm happy i did. Is study and nice. And was on offer. The downside is that is a bit down but with a 30cm deep matress matches well.

I actually don’t know where to start about the huge disappointment with this bed. Firstly the packaging was poor. Components rammed into a box leaving marks on the head board. Instructions poor. Quality of the wood was marked and scratched in many places. Construction. I built this with my daughter and it was not easy. The main supporting bar down the centre of the bed neither screw holes in both parts did not align. We had reached a point where it was too much to take it down again as a four year old was waiting for his new bed! The plus side of all this was calling Argos and detailing all of the above with photos and we did get a small rebate. Honestly it’s just not worth buying cheap!

Overall, a nice sized bed which looks good.
We brought this bed just before Christmas to accommodate extra guests. They found the bed comfortable and it looks great. The size is perfect. Argos delivery was brilliant. Hence 4 Stars. However, although the assembly was easy and straightforward, we did encounter one issue - the central strut for the slats was too long - the manufacturer hadn't allowed for the depth of the metal brackets, meaning we had to trim it down with a handsaw to fit it on. Also the fixing holes did not line up on this part, with or without cutting it down.

Watch out for your shins walking around the end!
Honestly, I guess you get to what you pay for! Needed a new bedframe and couldn't afford to spare much at the time so took a punt on this. It was pretty terrible to put together: some of the holes for pegs didn't line up well, needed a lot of brute force and had to use drill attachment on electric screwdriver to widen the last one on final side enough to get the peg to go in. Once it was finally together, it looked pretty stylish! However, we've already had to replace two broken slats and the design has very pointed corners which can do quite a bit of damage if you happen to walk into them (as my poor mum discovered while she was staying with us and took a flap of skin up on her shin! Sorry, Mum!). My advice is to give this a miss and opt for something less stylish but safer if you really can't afford to spend more right now.
