Wrong colouring
I brought this kettle 3 weeks ago to replace the original, in a kettle/ toaster set. Although it's advertised as being white, the colour is definitely cream and does not match the original colour of the toaster. It also has a black electric flex.

Poor quality, not worth the money.
I used to have Breiville kettle before and as I need to replace it I chose the same brand. I am not happy with the quality of the products. First of all it is louder than then previous one. Once the water is boiled it cools very quickly. On top of that it makes sound like 'click' every time te water is boiled. So I wouldn't buy again and wouldn't recommended it.

Decent for the money, but noisy
A decent kettle for the money, bought to replace an older Breville kettle badly showing its age. Find this quite noisy, and takes a while to actually switch off. Also, had an unmistakeable plastically smell with the boiled water for some while. Probably the most annoying thing for us was that the power lead was black, and our previous Breville white power lead was incompatible, so couldn't be swapped. Had expected the lead to be white because of buying a white version of this kettle.

This kettle replaced a previous Breville . This kettle was the same design and boils so fast.

Design fault
We had one of these kettles for 2 - 3 years until the on/off switch broke. We gave it a chance because it had worked fine until now and we were happy with the design. We bought another one less than 12 months ago and the switch on this one has broke. It is too flimsy and potentially dangerous and I think this amounts to a design fault.

To descale Breville VKT223 kettle, we recommend using a proprietary kettle descaler (readily available in supermarkets or online) or a solution of white vinegar and water. Descaling should be carried out every 4–8 weeks, depending on the hardness of your local water supply (more often in hard water areas).
Hi JVS. I can confirm that the element is stainless steel and the body of the kettle (both exterior and interior) is plastic. I do hope this helps.

The power cords for Breville kettles are consistent in design and are only available in black. Unfortunately, the white kettles do not come with white power cords, without exception.
