About this product
The Argos Home Hard Floors Chair Mat protects your flooring from chair castors and daily wear when you're working at home. It's made from durable PVC that gives you a smooth surface to roll across as you move between tasks. The mat measures 120 by 90cm, so there's plenty of room to wheel around without catching the edges. The smooth underside sits flat on hard floors without slipping or scratching underneath.
The PVC surface wipes clean quickly when spills happen, preventing your floor from stains or moisture damage. You can lightly vacuum it to clear away dust and debris. It can be trimmed down to fit your exact workspace if the full size doesn't suit your room layout. The mat stays in place during normal use and provides a stable surface that chair wheels glide over easily.

Very happy with floor protector mat
I'm very happy with this mat. I bought it to protect my laminate floor when using a swivel office chair in my new sewing room. The chair glides easily but safely on it - it's big enough for plenty of movement and easy to clean.

Does the job well
I bought this a few weeks ago as i have a new wooden floor in my home office and wanted to protect it from my office chair. It was the best price i could find for a mat of this quality. It is a good size and i can easily move my chair as needed without going onto the wooden floor. The only slight problem is that because it is still quite new, the edges curl slightly so i need to be careful if I'm walking past to avoid tripping over the curled edge. I'm hoping this will settle in due course.

Good quality product, does the job
After having some new hard flooring fitted, I wanted to protect my lovely new floor from any wear or scratches from an office chair. This is a good quality product, thick enough to stay in place, large enough to move around on and no rucking at the edges. It's also pretty invisible so doesn't jar on the eye at all. I've gone for smooth side up and this seems to work well. I was a bit dubious about paying so much for this product but I can see why it costs a little more than similar mats and I'm glad that I did.

Excellent plastic floor mat
I bought this to place under puppy pads for my wooden floor. I have an elderly incontinent dog and needed something waterproof to protect my floor at night but could be left down durable the day without being too noticeable. This is perfect and so easy to clean

Slips about on the hard floor.
Slips away underfoot on hard floor when stepping on approaching to sit. Quite startling when mat and chair slip away from me causing dangerous tendency of backward fall. Not good when specifically sold as Hard Floors Chair Mat. Needs anti-slip pads of some sort. Does look good still seeing your nice flooring through it. Well packed perfectly flat.

After checking with our supplier, they have advised for Argos Home Hard Floors Chair Mat.
This mat is made from PVC so it’s not compatible with underfloor heating. Regarding engineered wood, if there is any kind of varnish on that wood it would not be suitable as PVC could react.
PVC is a heat sensitive material and as such there is a risk of warping when exposed to prolonged heat like underfloor heating.

It's possible but this doesn't have a no slip base so may move around when weight isn't on it.

"Most dart mats are actually rubber, not plastic. That said, the mat should stop a dart from damaging the floor." (We'd have to add that this mat isn't designed for this purpose though).

I just cut mine with kitchen scissors, no problem. Might blunt them a little I guess, but they were cheap ones from Sainsburys anyway. I am a woman and had no problem cutting through it. I think a hacksaw is the kind where the blade is attached to a loop of metal - that would get in the way. Also think there is an advantage to using a non-serrated scissors or blade for a clean cut.

"It may be difficult to cut this product with a Stanley knife, particularly if it is a gripper backed version for carpets. I would suggest a junior saw/hacksaw option."
