I had to return item because I couldn't remove the case. Instructions said remove the screw but there wasn't one to remove. Also said batteries were included but it wouldn't switch on, there were no batteries in the box

Excellent
Really useful and easy to use. Because I batch cook; sausage casseroles etc., to defrost and then reheat I need to ensure the food is safely cooked. Especially burgers and the like. This thermometer is brilliant, and the digital readout is clear to see. A booklet user guide is very handy and which gives a table of various food products with minimum temperatures which I have found invaluable. Essentially, a higher value is far better than minimum safe values has been my mantra. The meat thermometer comes with a safety sheath for storage. Essential for every household.

Generally happy with my purchase
Very easy to use and read. It very quickly reaches the temperature of the food, so if food is not hot enough it doesn't need to be out of the heat source for very long. Also it uses standard batteries so easy to replace. My only slight problem is the length of the probe, which makes it a bit difficult to keep in a very handy place.

Seemed expensive but pleased after buying & using
Seemed expensive at first but having bought and used the thermometer I have to say it was worth the price, compared with previous thermometers. Good build quality.

Can't take the heat!
Plastic case melted and the probe came loose on the first use, checking a steak in the pan. The body is needlessly oversized.

The temperature range is - 45 to 200C. So yes, you can use it for yogurt making, around 35C.

"The extra-long 180 mm probe is perfect for using to check temperatures when making jam, confectionary, BBQ, meat temperatures and more." As no reference is made to Yoghurt, we'd have to advise that it's not suitable.

After checking with our supplier, they have advised for the Heston Blumenthal Indoor/Outdoor Meat Thermometer: I can confirm this requires 1 x LR44 Battery. It would not be suitable for use with rechargeable batteries.
